[Edit] Price has gone up but the portion has gone down, which I find frustrating because it's a higher price for less. Price increase totally understandable but portion and quality should remain the same. We always get the chirashi and the one I had today left me disappointed and still hungry. The fish is fresh but the pieces are way thinner than just a few months ago. Some pieces look like they are sliced so thin it was meant for nigiri not sashimi. I have been looking forward to getting their sashimi for weeks The consistency of the fish is not there when it is so thin. I know they used to be so great but rice portion has also decreased everytime I go. I'm usually too full to finish but today I'm still hungry :(. I'm too sad to revisit anytime soon. Maybe in a another few months. Quality is still pretty good but don't expect a thick piece of sashimi.
This is our favourite place for Japanese take out during the pandemic. Food is still really fresh, we have never gotten sick and getting take out is easy: you can order online or over the phone and you do not even need to go into the restaurant. They will bring your order to your car which is so nice. We always get chirashi and a 3 roll combo. I have been meaning to try their croquette because a Japanese friend says they taste just like the ones in Japan. I love this place. I think they may have reduced hours right now and may also be closed for lunch on Tuesday. Please support them!
Staff is friendly, sashimi is really fresh and the poke has a a good combination of flavors. We ordered omakase 20 piece, Poke don combo that comes with tonkatsu, salad and miso soup and a Tsukiji market sashimi. Hubby and I were really craving sashimi hence the overkill in our order lol. However there was overlap in the two sashimi plates so I recommend ordering just one or the other. Flavors were mild and you can taste the freshness of the fish. Our food took a lot of time to come out although it was mostly sashimi. However there was a big party before us so it was expected. I've been looking for a great Japanese hide out close to home and I think...
Read moreNakagawa-san now has 2 Japanese restaurants on the northend (Cafe Soleil in Mukilteo and Nakagawa in Bothell)! I was first introduced to Cafe Soleil by a friend from Japan soon after I returned from living in Japan - when I was desperately craving authentic Japanese food. Wow, Nakagawa-san's food was just what I was looking for. We love Cafe Soleil food so much we even had them cater our destination wedding on the Washington coast last summer

Small parking lot. Interior has fluorescent lighting. Lots of tables for two but they can be combined for larger groups. Sax music playing in the background--makes dining feel a bit weird since the setting isn't romantic.
Menu is very colorful and has pictures for some items.
Service: wait to be seated, order at the table, you will be watered, request a box and box your own leftovers, check will be brought to you.
Wasabi is potent! Use sparingly to taste.
Miso Soup: slightly watery texture but is still flavorful and not overly salty. Generous tofu cubes and a hunk of seaweed. Scooped out of a soup crock pot near the back.
Seattle Roll: generous salmon to rice ratio. This roll is packin' compared to some places that give you "rice rolls". I like the crunch that the cucumber adds.
Sunset Roll: so much salmon! I love salmon and this roll was great! Avocado adds a nice smooth touch.
Philadelphia Roll: great filling ratios! Salmon isn't overpowered by the cream cheese. I do have to say I think a lower quality salmon is used in this roll--the salmon was...
