The Lodge is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in and I would never recommend it to anyone. They lure you in with the nicely finished units and exterior, but everything else about this complex is awful. Four Star likes to nickel and dime tenets and the rent is way overpriced. After moving in I learned that many of the surrounding complexes were far cheaper and many don't add on small charges like having to pay each month for parking (which you have to do at the Lodge). The courtyard area by the west building is basically a filthy dog park and if your apartment is one of the ground floor ones on the courtyard then you will have out of control off-leash dogs trying to get into your apartment and jump on you every time you open the door. The vast majority of dog owners here are EXTREMELY irresponsible and seem to feel that the grounds are their personal backyard. There are only a few dog owners that actually leash their dogs and pick up after them. The amount of dog poop on the grounds is a health hazard and many of the out of control off-leash dogs are dog aggressive. I have called animal control a few times for assistance and they said Four Star is liable for these issues, and yet the only thing Four Star has done to try to resolve these issues is send out mass emails which are very ineffective. I will say that the property manager is very kind and has tried to help me with this issue, but it doesn't seem like there is much she can do to help. If you are a responsible dog owner this place is a nightmare. Before signing a lease, my roommate and I asked if we could schedule a tour of the units that would be available. We were told we weren't allowed to see the inside of any units and the best they could do was show us the outside. Now the office keeps scheduling tours of our unit, which we did agree to in the lease, but doesn't seem fair as we were told we weren't allow to tour before. Also the office gives far less than 24-hour notice of entry/tours in your unit and will schedule a large amount of these tours. They give you a huge 4 hour time window that the tour will occur in. When my roommate and I come home after these tours we find our closets open and after the last one our front door wasn't fully locked. Also I leave signage very clearly asking people to respect my crated dog, but as seen on my security cameras this has been completely ignored by both the staff member giving the tours and the potential residents. If we were given more advanced notice of entry I would be able to find another place for my dog to stay during the time window, but it's not possible when they wait until the night before to tell you a tour will be occurring. The hot water in entire buildings goes out fairly frequently and it usually takes a full day or two for maintenance to resolve the issue. It's very loud within the apartments themselves and quite a few people like to throw parties late on weeknights. We have had pizza splattered on our door and have had packages stolen from in front of our unit. Overall the rental company just wants your money and the staff is very unhelpful and won't help you if you have issues arise. They don't seem to care what the living conditions are like as long as...
Read moreMany reviews have pointed this out already, but this is a terrible place. What did it for me was that I got my vehicle towed for absolutely no reason. What this apartment complex does is it issues you a colored sticker and they will give a very short notice when the color changes in my case they changed the color overnight and they claim that they care about their residents what a joke! The fact that they have an allegiance with the local towing company to rip off students and working people is disgusting. They didn't hire the towing company to keep uninvited guests off the property they hired the towing company so they can earn a percentage of the cash that the towing company gains from towing people on their property. So, what happens is they have an agreement with the Boulder towing company that if they help the towing company out the towing company gives a percentage back to the landlord. They are very lucky that I didn't take them to a small claims court as I had enough evidence for a lawsuit. Don't listen to them about how they provide notice and word in a timely manner. How about this don't change the color of the sticker more then once a year and certainly do your due diligence to make sure and confirm that residents are aware, but this of course would impact your illegal side hustle you have with the towing company. James was very rude and had the nerve to tell me that I was lucky to get reimbursed for 50% of the towing charge. I laughed at him and told him that he is incompetent which he is and to drop the tough guy act as it was laughable and that I would have been lucky to have gotten all of my money back. These people are crooks, and they think they can get away with this. I highly encourage other residents to bring them on a lawsuit if they find themselves victims to being unnecessarily towed. I remember coming back one night from work and seeing management walk around with Boulder PD at 3 AM trying to find cars to get towed. They were walking around at 3 AM with their flashlights laughing and talking about how many students they think they can get towed. The flat-out disrespect is disgusting, and I guarantee one day they will have a lawsuit if they haven't already against them. If I could give this apartment complex a negative rating I would. They overcharge their residents, and they inconvenience them by having their personal property towed. To whoever reads this message DO NOT move here. There are better places to move to in Boulder because the landlord and management here have a terrible moral compas and are looking out for themselves not...
Read moreliterally the worst possible decision you can make
won’t tell you when there is work being done. they fixed the roof outside our apartment after it was literally torn off in december, and there were people working outside our apartment door and all windows for about three weeks and they never said a word about it. mail gets stolen ALL THE TIME and they won’t do anything about it. Especially if you have a pet, those bark boxes are a hot steal because after six months of having subscription, three of the boxes were stolen (including one of the replacement boxes i was sent after the first was stolen) the pool is literally disgusting. you can’t see the bottom, the water is always green, and they will not clean it properly. they sent out threatening emails the entire time we lived there about different things, never took any blame for things being messed up/broken (pool and mail room). they actually locked everyone out of the mail room because the door was broken and they never told anyone when it was fixed. i also got locked in the mail room when the door broke and had to wait for someone else to show up to open the door from the outside. they won’t give you your security deposit back. at all. they ask for a forwarding address but say that it’s not their fault if they don’t send it to the correct address that you give.
overall, to everyone who is still living there, my condolences. to everyone thinking of living...
