I found this place via Yelp, when I was looking for a place for dinner in Boulder, that served Rocky Mountain oysters. The place is pretty huge. My boyfriend and I arrived on a Sunday night at around 7 and it wasn’t too busy. It’s self service - you order at the counter, grab a table, and they’ll announce your name over the PA system once your order is ready. We ordered wings, which were good, and the Rocky Mountain oysters, which I didn’t really like. It didn’t really taste like anything; just fried bits of something weirdly textured/crunchy. I’m still glad I tried it though, because now I’ll never have to order it again. Didn’t seem like anybody else was ordering this though. For my entree, I had the chipotle chicken sammie (charbroiled chicken breast , chipotle pepper, mayo, bacon, pepper - jack cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickle on a toasted bun). It wasn’t anything special: just a chicken sammie that was pretty greasy. I did enjoy the curly fries though. Overall, I think we ordered too much fried food. The sandwiches are already pretty greasy so I feel like you should order something non-fried to balance it out. I recommend the cole slaw!

I would like to say I loved this restaurant but I’d be lying. It’s a really chopped up place with an ordering system that is basically like a fast food place, order your food here, go to one of the bars to order your drink, and then wait for the kitchen to call your name. Then there’s the clever fact that the restroom doors are painted with a male and a female, but don’t fail to notice the signs that point to the opposite door. Please Dark Horse, don’t make me think when I have to pee. My fish and chips were hard fried frozen cod and some fries. Not sure what I expected but maybe a little more effort? I can’t remember what my husband ate but he said it was ok. This is definitely not a place I would recommend to anyone besides the stacks of semi-college ages people there.

We were looking for wings! And found this gem in Boulder! They were really good! Flavor was delicious even the plain wings. The atmosphere was pretty awesome. The set up to order was a little strange because it’s not your typical restaurant you stand in line if there is a line to place your order and then you go to the bar to order your drinks, then you find somewhere to sit they will call your name when your food is ready. The bathroom is a little strange and confusing several people walked into the wrong side… They do have a large tv in the main area that makes it a little hard to hear your name called. Overall we loved it I will definitely be back!!

Things are fine a little differently here. The first thing I noticed was the No table service...order at the kitchen window... different but effective...this place is full of character...there are TV's placed in strategic locations but I think a few more would help. I went with two other guys and we all ordered hot wings. The food is not bad, and it's not great it's just solid. As far as being in a sports bar this place looks like during the right time it's a great place to be. All in all I really enjoyed my visit to the Dark Horse Sports Pub and I would say if you're looking for a sports pub this is a pretty cool place to hang out.

Went here for lunch on a Tuesday. Not busy at all. We were seated right away and our server came out pretty quickly. The food was really good. I did get the impression our server did not want to be there and she disappeared for a bit when we wanted to pay our bills. The building is pretty interesting. Lots of old carriages hanging from the ceiling. A second floor which is partially just a balcony. All sorts of signage and knickknacks all over the walls. Overall, a very busy, but interesting, decor. This is a very popular place near the university. I tried to go on a Friday night and it was packed.

Dark Horse Bar in Boulder on game day is an absolute blast! 🎉🏈 The energy is electric, and the place is packed with fans cheering on their favorite teams. The bar has a carnival antique shop vibe and lively atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to enjoy the game with friends. Plus, they have a great selection of beers and delicious food to keep you fueled throughout the game. Whether you're a die-hard sports fan or just looking for a fun time, Dark Horse Bar won't disappoint! 🍻🍔Beware of the bathrooms... the signs point to the appropriate gender but are painted on the opposite! 😂
