We tried Bad Ass Coffee today for the first time. We used to frequent Amante Coffee 2-3 times a week when it was at this location on Baseline and 28th near the Dark Horse. We would go on a 20 mile bike ride on Boulder's bike paths and end our trip sipping amazing Amante coffee on the upstairs deck enjoying the lovely view of the Flatirons. But Amante closed after the pandemic and we have had to find other coffee shops to frequent. When we landed at Bad Ass Coffee today, we were so excited to continue our tradition with yummy coffee on the deck after a long ride. The atmosphere is beach-y and fresh, the staff friendly and bright. We had such great expectations! We ordered their signature Kona coffee, a 5-minute French-pressed cup each, and after a few disappointing sips of what tasted little more than brown water, we asked if we could pay for and add a shot of espresso to get our cups to a more palatable strength. Expecting a rich deep blend of nutty Kona Arabica, we were disappointed to instead taste a weak and bitter cup of brown water, even with the added shot. Then we thought maybe Bad Ass Coffee is just getting its feet after opening less than two months ago, and haven't gotten the coffee to water brewing ratios right yet, so let's buy some Kona beans and make a stronger cup, like we like, at home. But the beans were an unreasonable $60-$70 per 12 oz not-organic bag! We would love to have Bad Ass Coffee be our new coffee shop, but not unless they can brew a fresh rich cup of proper coffee. For now we will go back to Brewing Market...
Read moreI was so excited to see Badass come to Boulder after loving them back in California, and they exceeded my expectations at this new location! First of all, trying to get all of my family to agree on one place is a challenge. Every single member of our party (4 of us) from my mom to our littlest member was so excited and thought everything was delicious. The marble loaf was super fresh and very, very tasty as were the matcha, hot chocolate, beach bliss and turtle kick! It's unanimous that this is our new favorite coffee spot. The owners and each and every member of staff was friendly, genuine, helpful and welcoming (and patient!). The decor is beautiful! It was so wonderful to see their huge mural of Hawaii and see the ocean waves and surf boards. And don't get me started on the adorable donkey decor. Their merch is awesome, too. I want several of the shirts, stickers and mugs. I definitely have my eye on them, and there is a lot to choose from. We went up to their upstairs patio and my kids played cornhole! We loved their themed chairs (blue with wave designs!) and mini fireplace. The whole experience was a dopamine dream. When we got back in the car everyone agreed we need to go back immediately to try more things! 100 percent...
Read moreWe tried Bad Ass for the first time today and it lived up to its name :-) We loved this place. The atmosphere is very fun and inviting. The staff were very friendly and helpful. But what about the coffee? AMAZING! Sometimes the syrups and milk smother out the taste of the coffee at other coffee shops, but not here. The coffee taste came through and was delicious. The mac nut flavor in the latte put it over the top. The coffee ice cubes used in the iced coffee was an unexpected bonus. We will be back and I highly recommend this coffee shop to anyone looking for...
