Read moreI'm going to talk about the food in a minute, but first: The no-tip situation needs to be addressed. When I was paying for my burrito today, my tip was refused. They said they aren't ALLOWED to take tips. I paid and left but kept thinking about it. Because this is different than most establishments, I thought maybe the place was forward-thinking and compensated employees for the lack of tips? But I had to know so I called and asked if they were paid a higher amount than they would expect at a place that does allow them tips. The question made the person very uncomfortable and it took some prodding to get an answer but, no. They don't get paid extra.
Not cool business owner. If you're going to disallow tips for your service workers, pay them a fair wage or else it seems like you might be actively preying on uninformed or young workers. Considering the service I received, I felt like they deserved the tip. It's weird. I hope you see that it is weird. And also that there's a great explanation for this oddity. Anyway onto the food.
I am a huge burrito fan. Period. I read a review that the burritos here were really good so I was excited to try it. I was let down. If not for the weird no tip rule, I'd rate at a 3 (3.5 if I could cos service was good). But that weird no-tip...
Read moreThe food is great, I usually order take out. Yesterday I worked a 12hr shift, when I got home last night the power was out in my neighborhood. I came to the restaurant about an hour before they closed. They were breaking down the stations when I had arrived. I was the only customer in the restaurant. I had never been inside of the restaurant so I originally went to the register to order, the woman at the register didn’t say anything but pointed me down towards the other end to order. A young woman behind the line took my order. She was nice, she was the only person who spoke to me. I walked back towards the register to check out. The woman originally behind the register looked at me and went back to her task of making herself a drink. I waited a few moments, all three staff members were looking at me and each other; I’m assuming expecting the other ones to help because they did not stop what they were doing. There was two people breaking down stations/cleaning. I was the only person in the restaurant and none of them helped me expect for the young woman who took the order but had already gone back to her task of cleaning. I left without paying and without my food. I’m going to stick to take out...
