I'll start by saying I really like my new couch and it works really well in our space, which is why this rating is two stars and not one. The buying experience was terrible. Tiffany "helped" us with our purchase but either lied or gave us misinformation throughout the process. Tiffany seemed nice, so I'm not sure if she was your typical furniture sales person just trying to make a sale or if she really had no idea what she was doing.
We initially came into the store on Sunday, 12/31, after visiting two other furniture stores in town. We had done some research and had a pretty good idea of what style and material we wanted. Tiffany was friendly when we entered and offered us fresh baked cookies, so the experience started off well. My girlfriend and I found the couch we ultimately purchased fairly quickly, but wandered around the store for a bit to make sure there wasn't something we liked better. When we circled back to the couch we liked we had a few questions for Tiffany around durability as we were a little worried about the quality due to the price. Tiffany assured us the couch was quite durable by letting us know that the model we were looking at had been on the floor for 4 years, so over that time many people had tested it out by sitting on it, laying on it, "plopping down", etc.. and it was still show room quality. We accepted that answer and let Tiffany know we'd like to purchase.
Here's where we started encountering some issues. Tiffany grabbed the tag, went to the computer, and looked up the availability of the piece. Unfortunately, the floor model was the only model available AND Tiffany informed us The Outlet & Sleep Center was no longer carrying that model so our options were to take the floor model or she could look to see if any other stores had that model in their inventory (but delivery could sometimes take a couple weeks). She also offered a $25 discount if we'd like to take the one on the showroom floor. The couch itself cost $988 and we were planning to purchase the stain guard which was another $187 (though she told is it was only $87 initially), so she essentially offered us a 2.1% discount to take the floor model. I told her that $25 didn't seem like much of an incentive to which Tiffany told me that this model was like new and that it hadn't really been used that much, despite trying to sell us on it's durability by telling us how great it looked for being on the floor for 4 years only 10 minutes earlier.
Ultimately, we had Tiffany look at the inventory of other stores and she found the Great Falls store had the couch. We opted to go for the brand new model versus the 4 year on the floor model. Tiffany let us know that it would to the Bozeman store by Friday (only 1 week now, not 2) and all we needed to do was give them a half hour notice before we came to pick it up so they could spray the stain guard and get it ready to be picked up.
Tiffany called me Friday afternoon to let me know the couch was in, but I couldn't get out of work early enough on Friday to pick it up before 5:00 and I had plans Saturday, so I told her I'd be in Sunday to pick it up. Unfortunately, The Outlet and Sleep Center doesn't have warehouse staff on Sundays (information that would have been helpful previously, but not a huge deal), so I planned to come pick it up on Monday.
Monday rolls around and I leave work early to pick up my new couch. I'm pretty excited at this point and give them a call to let them know I would be there in 30-45 minutes. About 15 minutes later, Tiffany calls me with some bad news... Great Falls sent the wrong color couch. My girlfriend and I discussed it and decided we would come and take a look at the color and see if we liked it. Honestly, in the store when we initially purchased we were a little on the fence on color as there were two options and each had some pros and cons. When we arrived at the store, Tiffany informed us she had "made a rookie mistake, even though she's not a rookie" and ordered the wrong color.
At this point, I'm pretty frustrated. She let me know...
Read moreMy husband and I purchased a table from Conlin’s. The purchase went great our sales gal was wonderful. However, we confirmed before leaving that the table would be new in a box and they said yes. When they called for pick up they said the chairs were new but the table was the floor model. I explained that was not accurate that we did not purchase the floor model so they said they would look into it and call me back. When they called back they said they were mistaken and that the table was new but the box had been accidentally opened by the warehouse. I made sure to make it clear if the box was just opened but the item was still packaged I would be fine taking it, and they confirmed. Now, when I got to pick up, again the warehouse guys loaded the chairs and then said they have to go take the table apart since it was the floor model. I again explained that was not accurate. So, we proceeded to go inside where they explained again it was not the floor model rather the box was open and the table top was out of the box. I explained to them that was not what I was told. I was told the table was still in box, but open. Long story short I explained because it was supposed to be in a box I was not prepared to transport it without one. The gal was nice and said due to the mixup they would deliver and set up but again assured me that the table was brand new never used. Then she said they would be here between 8:30 and 9:30am but the delivery guy said no, we will be there at 8:30am sharp because I had to be at work. I was like great! 8:45am comes on the delivery day and I get a call saying they were 20 minutes out. The guys were so nice, and listened to my frustration but I knew it wasn’t their fault. Don’t tell customers a specific time if your not going to do it. Now, the table… I whole heartedly believe it was the floor model despite what they said. Upon arrival it had pen marks on it from what it looks like but at this point I’m just tired of going back and forth and feeling lied to. It definitely wasn’t the best experience and hopefully if we ever need to shop again we will have a...
Read moreI went to the store back in the beginning of October. I ordered a couch and they said it would be shipped in 3-5 weeks. December came and I still didn’t have my couch. the first week of December they said it would be delivered around the 10th of December. once it finally came in they ordered the wrong couch. They took it back and said it would then be another few weeks for the new one to come in. I stuck it out and the new delivery date was January 10th (today). The wrong couch was delivered AGAIN. I told the drivers to let whoever know to cancel my order because at this point I had gone since October with a couch. Not a single call from anyone from the store to apologize or attempt to make it right. the lack of care and organization on their end is appalling. 1 star...
