Newbury Comics — Local services in Braintree

A tragic fate for a truly once great company. This last visit was the final straw. Finding markups on vinyl records that I can only describe as perverse. Look, I'm not new, I know a business needs to make money, even willing to give them a break considering the rent at the location is probably high...but that isn't what's going on. Albums are routinely priced $20+ higher in this store than they sell for anywhere else. Guarantees those items will just sit there until someone who doesn't know better takes the bait and gets robbed.

I remember a few decades ago when Newbury was THE location to pick up music from. You'd be greeted by people from deep in various music subcultures excited to be there and talk music and pop culture. Some of those people are still friends.

Now it's just a hollowed out plastic zombie of itself (...and the plastic part is quite literal considering half the shelf space it taken up by Funko Pops.). Someone needs to old yeller this company, it's clearly terminal.

Zero customer service and seemingly miserable employees. Have been in here multiple times with the same experience and now won’t be back. Stood right by 3 employees for at least 5 minutes looking at items I was interested in that were locked up in a case. Not one of them greeted me or offered any kind of assistance so I left. Incredibly cool store for anyone interested in any major fandom. Awesome for people who like anime, graphic novels, marvel/DC stuff or video games. Was always my go to place to shop for friends, if you know what someone is interested in they probably have a bunch of stuff from that series.
