First the pros: delicious sandwiches, clean tastefully decorated restaurant, nice addition to the mall. Now, the one major con: I asked for a glass of water and they gave me a really hard time about asking for a glass of water. This should be a non-issue for a restaurant and I was very, very confused. Their reason for not wanting to give me water was that the water is “not filtered” and is from the mall which is “a hundred years old.” I politely told them that legally a restaurant (especially a restaurant) should have potable water and that legally they have to give water to a customer if they ask for it. They again said yes they do have water but it’s unfiltered so they don’t like to give it out. Right after saying this he opens the fridge, takes a pitcher of cold water and pours it into a cup and gives it to me…….uh…I really just don’t know guys. Why was it such a big deal to give me a glass of water? If you’re the owner please respond. Other than this one interaction I have loved going to Lumi. I have literally recommended it to all my friends and I was so happy that they opened at South Shore Plaza.I especially love their egg coffee, it’s so yummy. However, I was really saddened by this experience. I don’t think I was being unreasonable for asking for water. Please, please write back and explain the water...
Read moreAs a food connoisseur, and having had an opportunity to meet the owner in his first and smaller shop in Braintree South Shore Mall. He was very patience to explain what is his specialty in making his own banh mi. He asked every potential customer what was their likes and dislikes, then chooses or recommended each, their own bahn mi. I have to say, he knew how to satisfy each one of us!! He does have a special sauce, that gets smeared onto every sandwiches and its a winner!! Not heavy not strong but very aromatic and tasty! It works with everything. Today, i ordered lumi special, im not a great lover of BBQ pork, BUT this is a must-have!! Savoring every yummy bite. And coffee? Hot condensed milk coffee is not overly sweet and its actually quite smooth and pleasant. Surprisingly these 2 items actually taste good together. Although larger and more welcoming location in the same mall, I noticed slight change in their crusty bread. Is it better? Yes, more crustier than previously but still softer bread inside. That is the secret of softer inside, to absorb all that yummy sauce and all its juiciness!! By comparison, it seems this version of bahn mi is a bit french with a finesse to please his multi-cultural crowd. This is my 4th time here, and i will still...
Read moreDiscovery: My family was visiting in town near the mall so I took them for a shopping day and lunch in the South Shore Plaza Mall. When we entered the mall we heard the drums playing and followed them to see the opening (relocation) ceremony Lion Dance for Lumi. While there I saw a friend who absolutely recommended we try it (He was there eating with his family of 4). Food: After shopping my parents and I dropped in and got our first ever Banh Mi (Vietnamese Sandwiches). I tell you these sandwiches (we got the grilled beef) were incredible! They were filled with fresh veggies and bursting with flavor. We also tried the Vietnamese eggs rolls which were good. Restaurant style- It is a small restaurant on the main floor of the mall. It has seating and very cute interior design (it is open to the mall corridor.) It also has it's own bathroom - which is really nice in a mall setting. You order by walking up to the counter and you pick your food up from the counter when they call your number (No table service). Food comes out quick. Depending on the time of day it can get quite a crowd. Highly Recommend if you love a really amazingly fresh sandwich! I will absolutely go back. I already sent friends who...
