One Stop Shell Shop — Local services in Brandenton Beach

The woman working there (the owner?) had no real knowledge of shells. She actually showed me the WRONG shell, when I asked to see a specific kind. She wasn't even close! Not even in the same species! She blamed her mistake on me not giving her the scientific name of the shell. LOL. Almost all Floridians know shells by their nicknames. She's an idiot. But, the real issue that I have is that she was telling tourists that it is okay, per Florida law, to take home two LIVE sand dollars a day. I called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, to verify her claim. As expected, she is misleading tourists. You can ONLY take home 2 live sand dollars (in Manatee County) if you have a current Florida fishing license! Which most tourists do NOT obtain, for a day at the beach with their families. They are there to play at the beach and most partake in collecting seashells. Her woeful disregard for living sea creatures is revolting.

Besides this, the shop is vastly overpriced for those people looking to purchase shells or "beach" tourist items. She was also ignorant in answering other tourists' questions (regarding manatees, etc.). She once again, gave them misleading information. She needs to find another job or if she is indeed the owner, close up shop. Or turn the place into something else. Because a GOOD shell shop has knowledgeable employees who also have great respect...

If I can give this shop no stars I would as soon as I parked my car an older woman came outside to tell us not to park there unless we were gonna go to her store with a rude tone despite her attitude we still went into the store and bought some items as soon as we walked out the store the same elderly lady (owner of the store) came out the store and stood outside staring and observing my family for more than 10mins while we were getting into our car we had a long drive home so we were stretching our legs getting ready for the long ride back and then the elderly lady who owns the store came up to us and told us we needed to get out of there that it wasn’t a hanging out place we were her costumers like we bought from her store and she treated us in such a terrible way so was being disrespected to us and she tried to take pictures of our license plate for no reason what so ever just because we didn’t leave right away as soon as we bought something in all honesty I wanted to return the stuff I bought like how can you be so rude to your costumers We were probably the only costumers there as soon as we gave her the $ for our items that’s it we were nothing she then proceeded to doing this to everyone who parked in her store area so if your into harassment and people speaking to you in a condescending tone this store is...

Cute shop but the customer service... no. So, I found this cute keychain, right? It costed 2.99. I ask the cashier if they take card. She says yes. So I start paying with card, and she says “we prefer our customers to pay a minimum of 5 dollars when they use card.” Just that. No specifics, no reason why, just that. and I was like “ oh okay well is it mandatory?” And she’s like aggressively responds in way where she sees my question as ignorant and says, “WELLLL no but we have to pay a company to use card.” And So we offer to pay cash, and give her 3 dollars cash instead to pay for the price of the keychain and she’s like NO NO TAKE THE CASH AWAY AND JUST RUN THE CARD. And as we leave she scoffs and is like “people these days.”...
