I had a traumatic and painful experience with Dr. Raffoul and his office that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. What was supposed to be a routine wisdom teeth removal ended in a severe infection that left my throat nearly closed, unable to speak for hours, and ultimately required emergency surgery and a 48-hour hospital stay. The pain was unbearable, and the way everything was handled felt rushed, careless, and deeply unprofessional.

The morning of my surgery, the office pushed my appointment back by an hour. When I arrived at the new time, I still waited another hour before being seen. During prep, three different techs or hygienists tried and failed to place an IV, causing unnecessary pain and stress, until the anesthesiologist finally did it herself on the first attempt—something that should have happened much earlier.

After the procedure, I woke up completely alone in a recovery room with no staff around. I was disoriented and scared until someone finally came in. In the following days, I developed a worsening sore throat. I sent photos of the swelling to Dr. Raffoul on days two and three, and he assured me everything looked fine. Even when I followed up again at midnight on day three in intense pain, he still said I was probably okay.

Just three hours later, I was rushed to the ER at 3 a.m., unable to speak and struggling to breathe. I was diagnosed with a peritonsillar abscess—an infection caused by the surgery. I was admitted immediately, underwent emergency drainage surgery, and remained hospitalized for two days.

I really wanted to love this dentist office, but my first visit wasn’t great. My appointment was supposed to be a full check-up and cleaning (I made that clear when booking because I had to take off work — the office is only open M–F, 9–5). Unfortunately, it took two hours just to complete X-rays. The woman who worked with me was super kind and knowledgeable, and the office itself is very clean and modern inside. Everyone I interacted with was polite and friendly — which is why I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1.

The downside was the experience overall. The X-ray machine kept having issues — they had to swap out parts multiple times — which caused huge delays. At 4 PM, after two hours there, they told me they didn’t have time to do my cleaning anymore. That was frustrating because I had specifically scheduled this so I could get everything done in one visit.

Another disappointment: I had chosen this office partly because their website says they offer Invisalign. I asked about it, only to be told they actually refer Invisalign out to an orthodontist. I left feeling frustrated and like my time wasn’t valued — especially after taking time off work.

On the positive side: prices seemed reasonable, the staff was friendly, and the office was very clean. But the location is in a run-down parking lot next to a thrift store and smoke shop, and I honestly didn’t feel very safe walking in.

I was planning to come back for my cleaning and any other work, but I’ve decided to look elsewhere for a dentist who’s more punctual, respects patients’ time, and can handle everything in one place.
