Purchased tires thru CostCo then went there to have them installed. First, the guy behind the counter had TERRIBLE Customer skills. When I first got to the counter (in time for my appointment), "Bill" was just picking up the phone. He not only did not acknowledge my presence but he began dialing the phone, then left a message, then did some "checking" (not data entry) and then continued to leave me hanging for another 5 full minutes! When he finally did acknowledge me, his attitude was very condescending: his first question was an abrupt "what do you need?" I told him that I was there for my appointment and then told him my last name. Again, with an attitude, he says "what's your order number?" I spent several minutes looking through my confirmation emails (none of which contained an order number) and instead offered to provide him with the CostCo confirmation number. After offering this number, he said nothing for a minute then told me that he had already found the order! When I returned to pick up my car, the same nonsense occurred. Except this time, instead of 5 minutes, he had me stand there for over 10 (ten) minutes without saying a thing. There was one other Customer at the counter; but that does not at all excuse "Bill" from basic Customer Handling requirements. Finally, another Costco employee came out of the office and told Bill that he was there to give him a hand. Note that I was the ONLY other Customer! This other employee asked me for my name, then reached into the drawer and gave me my key, my invoice and the instruction to return to get my wheels re-torqued. This last transaction by this other employee took NO MORE THAN 10 SECONDS. Secondly, the technician who installed my tires used a lubricant that he slopped all over my rims and tires. I absolutely understand the need for the lubricant (I worked several years at a Sear Auto Store). However, I do not understand why the technician would not then wipe this slop off my rims and tires! Maybe I might excuse the sloppiness of the Costco technician; but the extremely poor way that I was treated by the Costco counter guy ("Bill Power") will absolutely ensure that I will never have my tires done again in that shop. I wish I could have rated this...
Read moreStay away from Stuart Gelber, Optometrist
I have purchased glasses and contacts from Costco in other states and never had a problem with any of the independent optometrists. I made an appointment at the Brick store for which I was on time. This “doctor” began the visit by dropping the door in my face as I tried to enter. The assistant told me he was a “fill in” and that the usual optometrists were on vacation. Gelber proceeded to tell me “My eye exams take 23 minutes and we are booked solid.” (File that under “not my problem.”) He asked me the purpose of my visit. I needed an eye exam for possible increase in Rx and I needed a contact fitting. Gelber told me that he could not fit me for contacts because I didn’t bring any with me. Gelber handed me a reprint of a newspaper article about leaving contacts in overnight and over-wearing them – I do neither. He then announced that he had been investigated in NY for offenses related to contact lenses but by this time I was beyond listening to him anymore. (The fact that he had been investigated didn’t bolster my confidence, nonetheless I persisted.) I informed him that I expected to receive all the services I specified when I made my appointment because nobody mentioned any difficulty in accomplishing this. I asked Gelber “So what will you be doing today?” His answer: “Nothing.”
I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a purported “eye professional” as I was by Stuart Gelber. When I called to reschedule my appointment with the regular optometrists, the assistant was apologetic and I pitied her for having to work with him, even temporarily. She rescheduled me for the first possible appointment.
This is a five star review because I did not want to taint Costco’s ratings by posting a one star review about unprofessional treatment by someone who isn’t even there all the time. All the other employees at Brick are friendly and helpful. Costco drew the short straw with this replacement...
Read moreSo I went in today to buy my mom, who is in the hosp. I had my dad's card. I went to check out the lady doing self check out. He was rude and said, "This isn't you. How do you know it's not me. What if I was trans? What if I changed into a woman from a man and didn't change my name yet? I was then sent over for someone to check me out. A lady came over to scan my card and said, "This isn't you." After I checked with the guy checking me out, I had 4 people swarming me like I was stealing or something. I called my dad, who was in the hospital with my mom, and told him what was happening. They were trying to help. Remind you that we all have the same address. So my mom and dad asked if I could be added to the account bc they don't know when they will be able to make it to Costco again since my mom is in the hospital. You can only have 2 cards per account. How dumb so my parents' adult children can't be on the same account even tho we live in the same household. Me and my sister need to our own membership even tho we don't have families or anything, so obviously, we are shopping for the household we live in with all 4 of us. Anyway I went to customer service and asked to talk to the manager the lady there was very nasty asked to the manager. Well, Danielle H. (the member service manager) came over and told me that she already told me I was not allowed and wouldn't talk to my parents. Then, she offered to hold dad's card till he came to get it. He is about 2 hours away! No, thank you, lady. She made it clear they aren't BJs. I can't believe what a tans person would go threw and be harassed if they didn't change there name and still had their dead name! Would they have to show ID everytime? Would they not get treated like everyone else? This is a sad world where you can't even shop for your parents with out being swarmed by people bc your trying to buy food for you sick...
