I purchased a vanity light with a gift card and needed to exchange it for a smaller option as we went with a smaller vanity. It was still brand new in box, we had not even opened it. Unfortunately, I had lost the original receipt and explained that I was just looking to exchange it or get store credit to buy a different light from them. I know people who return at Home Depot all of the time with no receipts and never have issues, but they gave me such a hard time. For some reason the product was coming up as ineligible for return. I said that wasn’t a problem, was there a way to just exchange it even if I lost some money, I was not trying to cause issues. Denise was so rude, the return had to be approved by a manager, and they made me feel like I was some terrible person for a simple return and exchange. The woman who helped me, again this was Denise, told me she was “refund warning” me that I was banned from ever returning something there again without a receipt. It would be denied. I have only ever returned something, maybe once?, to Home Depot without a receipt. I purchase from them all of the time and typically it’s on my credit card, so of course it saves to my Home Depot account. I politely tried to explain that and she snapped at me that she was giving me the warning she was instructed to. I never once raised my voice or argued with them, I just tried to have a conversation with them explaining and she just kept rudely cutting me off and snapping at me. She absolutely would not allow me to finish a single sentence I started. My 8 year old daughter who was with me even got nervous and asked why the woman was so mean to me when we walked away. When I went to find a different light right after this, they still had the exact light I was returning on their shelves. It was on sale, so maybe that’s why the computer was giving an issue. But again, they could have refunded me the sale price only and it would have been fine. I realized I didn’t have my receipt and wasn’t trying to be difficult. I am just appalled at the way I was treated when I didn’t raise my voice or try to be rude at all. I asked the checkout person if that was some new policy or something and she could not believe that is what was said to me. She had never heard of that. Luckily there is another Home Depot right down the road, so I will be sure to visit their store instead in the future. But truly, do better. I was not a rude customer. I was just trying to make a different product purchase from the same store. Denise should be ashamed of herself. I know that there are rude people out there, but at no point was I rude to her, and I never leave reviews, but the way I was treated was uncalled for. The time stamp on my return receipt is 10:07 am on July 18th. Look me up. I know they took my number down and scanned my ID to make sure they could “deny me” in the future....
Read moreI usually have a decent experience here but yesterday was absolutely amazing. I needed the faux wood cordless blinds for my new house, but had 25 windows to install with different sizes. They can custom cut the width to any size you need, however you first need to find someone there that can assist. This was especially difficult yesterday because the guy trained on the machine called out sick and there was no one left to help. ENTER AUDREY AND MICHELLE! I saw them cutting carpet for another customer and asked if they knew how to cut the blinds. They said "not really" but I'll take a look and see if we can figure it out. They then realized the machine was different than the older, more complicated one, and they thought they were able to pull it off. Just the fact they were willing to try and help me was amazing. Turns out the machine was pretty straight forward, they successfully cut the first set of blinds, and then worked together to do 4 more sets for me. I then realized I was missing 4 more and asked if they minded doing the rest. They were so nice and accommodating the entire time. I offered to buy them bagels or donuts or something because that is how appreciative I was that they took the time to see if they could assist, but they said, "No thank you!" I brought the blinds home and they were a perfect fit. This the the kind of customer service that every store should strive for. They could have very easily just said, "Sorry, we don't know how to use that machine and you'll have to wait until someone else comes in," but they took the initiative to give it a shot and see if they were able to help. They saved me hours in time and money by taking care of all the cuts for me, and I can't thank them enough. You're awesome Audrey and Michelle!...
Read moreJust had truly the most absurd encounter with the woman working at Home Depot in Brick in the outdoor section. I had two outdoor decor items in my cart and I had wanted a plant from the front that I saw when I was walking in but didn't have a cart at the time. I walked around the checkout counter literally TWO FEET from the counter to grab a hanging plant and put it in my cart and then wrap back around to check out. The woman said "YOU CANT LEAVE THE STORE WITH THOSE ITEMS" I explained I wasn't leaving the store I was just grabbing this plant visible to her and only a few feet away and then wrapping back around to check out. They're heavy and I wanted to put it into my cart. She doubled down and said "YOU CANT LEAVE THE STORE WITH THOSE ITEMS IN YOUR CART WITHOUT PAYING FOR THEM" I completely understand that you can't walk past checkout and go shopping around outside with items in your cart but I explained exactly what my plan was and she was standing there watching me struggle to grab the hanging plant that was only a few feet from her. She couldn't make an exception in this case when I explained that my plan was to walk right back over to her to check out?! Seriously?? Instead she's yelling at me in front of other customers like I'm going to steal items. I promptly returned my cart two feet back to where it was allowed and walked out. You lost a sale because of this woman's incompetence and inability to think...she could have very easily said "oh ok! No worries thanks for explaining your plan and that you weren't planning to walk away with those items" ... and you would...
