Rainbow Diner — Restaurant in Brick Township

DO NOT LEAVE A TIP WITH CARD. THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU!!!!!

I have lived in Brick my whole life. Rainbow Diner was always one of the worst food establishments in the area, but it has gotten worse and worse to the point where I'm compelled to write a review.

For starters, PAY WITH CASH! I paid with card and they charged me extra money than I told them on the tip. I said I wanted to leave a $12 tip. They made it $15. I saw after they ran the card, so unless I wanted to make a big stink about it and waste a bunch of time having them refund the card, and wait for the refund, then it was a done deal. I decided not to make a scene out of it as I just wanted to get home and it was only $3. But a thief is a thief. I would not give any business to them out of principal. But if this doesn't turn you off, wait until I tell you about the food.

I got baked stuffed clams and a regular burger for my meal. The clams were okay, but they put a huge blanched tomato with feta cheese burnt to a crisp on top. Very weird, but it didn't get in the way of the clams so whatever.

The burger. . . Oh the burger. I'm not even convinced that was real meat. It had no flavor. I asked for a rare burger. Well, half of it was rare. The other half was well done. How they managed that I have no clue. But none of that mattered because the meat just had no flavor whatsoever. Seems like old beef to me. The bun was crushed for some reason and also devoid of flavor. And the Swiss cheese was just a melted slab of flavorless gunk. The tomatoes are the only part of the burger that had any flavor at all. So, I ate my bugermato in sadness.

With my burger also came a pickle and coleslaw. The pickle was a pickle. Fine. The coleslaw tasted aged. I tried to put pepper and salt on it to make it palpable but it was just not good. I gave up after 2 bites.

The fires also sucked and I didn't try the onion rings.

After all of this, I needed to stop on the way home for an emergency bathroom trip. And 30 minutes later at home I go again and it all came out like a waterfall. The food just gave me the runs.

And I am not a pickey eater. I'm the garbage can of my friend group everyone always gives me their leftovers. So for me to say this food was this bad is really saying something.

So, if you wanted to get robbed, eat terrible food, and get diarrhea, come to...

So me and my boyfriend come here ritually for the stuffed mushrooms because they are amazing ! He usually gets chicken vodka and I share his soup and salad... well today we got the exact same thing we always get and it tasted like everything came out of a can. Completely different then any other time they have tasted. The stuffed mushrooms contained imitation crab meat like never before with no taste of crab whatsoever just stuffing lemon and mushroom with a smell of crab. The most pathetic stuffed mushroom I have ever seen BUT I still ate it and enjoyed it because we LOVE this place... and then the chicken and vodka came out OMG. it tasted like ketchup.... an even more poor excuse for vodka sauce. So we try to bring it to the managers attention which by the way her name was francesca and SHE looks at me and says " well its the same ingredients as every time so I don't know about that but I'll take the vodka penne back do you want something else or not" and then charged us 8.00 for soup and salad ! I would not have even cared about the 8.00 if she wasn't so rude when it came time to pay the bill. Telling me she's not gonna get fired for doing her job and since we ate the soup and salad we had to pay for them.... she was nothing but rude every way in and out and I will never go back to this place specifically because of this " manager"! @ real manager running a restaurant business would not talk to their customers like that calling them a liar and rolling her eyes at every word. Absolutely the most embarrassing excuse of a meal and customer service experience I've ever had. I work with customers ALL DAY LONG talking down to me like I'm some kind of sweat shop worker and I am in a meat cutters union making double the money your staff does and RAINBOW DINER OWNER I hope your proud of your rude unintelligent management and be HAPPY she took at least 800$ out of your register a month because my entire family eats at your diner. Take my advice and DO NOT EAT HERE because if you don't like your meal your paying for all of your sides...

Monday morning my family and I went to Rainbow Diner for breakfast. When we arrived the place was just about empty. We were sat immediately, but asked to wait for a high chair for my son. The high chair was filthy! (I always sanitize everything he can touch) by the time I was done with he high chair and table the Clorox wipe was black! We live in a covid world now and I can tell you this place was not following cleaning procedures. We waited for the waitress to come back over to take our orders. When we asked if they had a children's menu for breakfast we were told no! I had to order my 2 year old a regular size pancakes. We ordered our food and the waitress disappeared. She dropped the food off ( which took 25 minutes) mind you the place was empty. After cutting the pancakes up for my son I poured what I thought was syrup onto his pancakes. IT WAS NOT SYRUP!!! it was either oil or water that they diluted the syrup with. Upon further inspection there was a 3 inch separation sitting on top of the syrup. the waitress was no where to be found so got up and went to the front to ask for a new syrup and showed the manager what we were given. With an attitude she took the syrup from me and said " ill get a different one". beings that we had to order an adult size pancake he still had 1/2 unused. When I got back to the table my mother found MULTIPLE pieces of aluminum foil in her Eggs Benedict. The waitress sent the manager over and again she had an attitude. She took my mothers food right off the table in front of her and said " ill take it off the bill then"... Was my mother expected to watch everyone else eat while she had nothing to eat? The manager then got into an argument with me when I expressed she was not acting in a professional manner due to the terrible attitude and 3 " male bodyguards" she brought with her to the table. Why would you need 3 male bodyguards for my mother my father who are up there in age, myself and my two year old! Absolutely Disgusting that we were subjected to that. We will never set foot in that...
