Someone had complained about the ceiling tiles in one review, but as you can see, these are all new. The place was clean and neatly decorated. Great atmosphere with soothing piano/string instrument music. It is small, and you do hear what anyone says, but that's fine.

We were there second couple to come in, and while we were sitting there, a third came in. This was Saturday afternoon, definitely passed the lunch hour. She brought over a pitcher of water and glasses were on the table.

I ordered the sampler appetizer, asked what each was and she explained: spring rolls, Curry puffs, open dumplings, and taro cake. Each was delicious. My husband got one of the pork special appetizers, which he said was great.

I ordered chicken pad Thai, and he got some sort of crying tiger? beef with veggies. (I stole his veggies onto my plate.). Pad Thai was just what I expected, and the veggies were really lightly steamed. The crying tiger meat was nice and rare, like he ordered.

We finished with taro custard and green tea creme brulee (flavors change daily apparently). Both came out in little aluminum cups topped with whipped cream. The taro custard was not sweet but nice textured. The green tea creme brulee had some burnt sugar on top but was nice flavor and texture other wise. My father's advice comes to me: order what the restaurant is known for. So the fact that a French dessert didn't come out perfectly at a Thai place is shrug

Really nice...

Late review:

This place is a must take out!!!

FIRST EXPERIENCE

•two orders of curry puffs (yes, you need to order 2 or more orders)

Because they are bussin, they are filled with curry powdered meat, and the sauce it comes with is soooooo good!

Because only a few come per order, I believe 3 or 4. I ate both orders 🤭and tried to save one for my husband, but he was away, so I figured welp 🤷🏾‍♀️maybe next time😅🤫

•Green curry with shrimp was okay something seemed to be missing. I dont know if it's because I dont have green curry often, but ehh, otherwise, everything about the meal was great.

SECOND EXPERIENCE

We ordered

•Thai wings 😋 which were really good. It's the best when wings are spicy and sweet!

•Curry Puffs, my favorite things on the menu, they should definitely consider making it a meal😉

•Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken, I ordered this and let me tell you this was soooooooo good. At HTK, you are able to select your preference for spiciness. I chose medium. I probably should have gone with a little spice so I didn't have to take heat breaks😂😂

•Yellow Curry with Beef and Jasmine Rice my husband said it was reallllllllllly good he used the leftover curry sauce for his lunch until it was gone

FYI : If you are worried about peanut or treenut allergies, I have both. I notfied HTK they reassured me. I'd be okay. I've eaten there twice and haven't had any allergy...

Got take out here for the first time today. Awesome Mussaman curry. Rich and thick with many layers of flavor. Will be trying all of the curries (my favorite) as soon as I'm able. Sadly, if your only experience with Thai food is fried rice or pad thai you're missing out on one of the world's great cuisines. Be adventurous, try something new! 😊

And no, this place doesn't smell like hamsters like some reviewer stated on Yelp. Not sure what planet that person was on but probably should not be doing restaraunt reviews. In any event, place is clean but small. Tables are very close together so keep the conversation generic unless you want everyone to know your business.

Also, someone stated that the ceiling was moldy and falling down, that may have been the case at one time but my recent visit revealed a brand new ceiling so nothing to worry about there. This place is very clean but also very basic. So what? It's the food I go for. They take credit cards with a $15 minimum.

Dont hesitate to go here, you'll have some excellent Thai food at great prices with friendly service. What more could you ask for? Some people just love to complain about everything and the irony is most of the time they have no clue what they're talking about. Go and judge for yourself, you won't be...

Having lived in Thailand for 10 years, I have been searching for an authentic Thai restaurant for many years. I've tried them all in Monmouth County and a few in Ocean. My litmus test dish is pad kaprow gai (minced basil chicken). I finally found a restaurant that does it justice. I thought that perhaps it was difficult to get authentic ingredients, but Herbs Thai Kitchen proved me wrong. I tried the lunch special for $10 (couldn't find on their food app, so call directly) and it was 1/2 the price of my local Thai restaurants. I will be back. Update 6/1/2025 Ordered Pad See Ew Gai, today which is stir fried flat noodle with chicken and Chinese broccoli (kai lan). Not wet, but some dark and light soy and oyster sauce. Unfortunately, it was a bit dry. Needed more sauce. Also, kai lan was substituted for regular broccoli. If I go for Thai, Japanese, Korean. Indian, etc food, I expect authenticity. Also, $18 is over the top. I paid $5 in Thailand.
