Today started off as just another mundane Saturday, with me, dragging myself out of bed and into the alleyway to hang out with my neighbors Hank Hill style. After a pointless chat, we somehow stumbled upon the topic of the best tacos in St. Louis. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a mysterious figure emerged from behind a dumpster and dropped some insider taco knowledge on us. Was it a ghost haunting the alley or just our neighbor taking out the trash? Who knows, all I cared about was getting my hands on these legendary tacos.
So off I went, loading up the car with supplies and my roommate, bidding adieu to the alleyway crew, and making our way to the promised land - El Morelia Supermercado. Through the perils of traffic, we finally arrived at the heavenly grocery store, greeted by the intoxicating smells of various meats being cooked to perfection.
Inside, we placed our orders for a variety of tacos, eagerly watching as the experts worked their magic on the grill. The toppings bar was a treasure trove of flavors, adding the finishing touches to our already drool-worthy tacos. Sitting down at a small booth, we dug into our meals, each bite sending me back to my Texas roots.
The tacos were a taste sensation, each one better than the last. But the chorizo...oh, the chorizo was the stuff of dreams. So much so that I took home a couple of links and whipped up breakfast tacos the next morning. A flavor explosion that ignited nostalgia for days gone by.
But let me tell you, the grocery store itself was a whole other adventure. I found myself wandering the aisles for hours, picking up ingredients that I thought only mom back in Texas could find. El Morelia Supermercado - a treasure trove of...
Read moreI've never written a review for any place but after multiple negative experiences with this place I felt that people need to know what they're walking into. I used to always go out of my way to go to this store because it had so many great things but quality has gone down hill and the store owners simply just don't care anymore. This is my last time going since no changes will ever be made. The carts are not sanitized. There are no wipes or any sanitizing liquid in sight. When I walked in the first thing I saw were the tortillas. A young man was unpacking them so I assumed they were somewhat fresh. The first pack I got was expired, the 2nd pack was about to expire 08/10/2020 so I kept looking. All the tortillas the man was unpacking were about to expire and I told him. All he said was that it was a new shipment and he continued to put them on the shelf. Next up was the produce, most of it looked old and there were flies all over. I thought maybe the pan dulce would be decent. We asked the baker which bread was from today and he pointed us to it. As soon as i opened the door even more flies started going everywhere. I decided to test my luck with the packaged pastries unfortunately all of them were expired or about to be expired. When we got to the register to pay, the man didn't say a single word or even look at me. He only spoke to tell me my total.. We left the store with only a couple of items and unfortunately we will have to find a new place to shop at. They lack respect and quality. It's such a disappointment and a waste of time to even go there. Save your time and visit the smaller shops that treat their customers with respect and actually care about what...
