My boyfriend is THE most difficult person to please when shopping for clothes; but our experience at Men's Wearhouse completely turned him around. Their secret? Excellent customer service.
We arrived at Men's Wearhouse early on a Saturday morning, and they were already very busy - hey, it's prom/wedding/event season. The store was clean, organized, and very impressive. They had a wide variety of products with various styles, colors, and fits.
Out intention was to purchase a suit that can be used for a number of weddings we have coming up this season. We waited in a long line to be helped, as there were many other customers in the store waiting for measurements and fittings. We were eventually seen by a very nice woman who helped us find his size/measurements. Although she was not a sales representative, she directed us in the direction of where to begin looking for products that would best fit our needs.
We began our own search but were a little lost on there to start. Despite our best efforts, I felt like I was pulling my boyfriend in different directions trying to piece together an outfit that would work for him. I could tell he was getting overwhelmed - he's a t-shirt and jeans every day kind of guy. At one point he became so frustrated that I could see he was ready to call it quits and leave empty handed. Then we were connected with the very best customer service/sales associate I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
His name was Brendan, and man did he save us. His demeanor was friendly and professional. Right off the bat, he was able to read the situation and quickly recognize the confusion and overwhelmingness in our faces. He catered his behavior and approach to best fit our needs so that the entire experience was enjoyable and fulfilling. He maintained the perfect balance of humor and expertise which helped to reassure us that we were in good hands.
He began by asking questions on what product(s) we were looking for, and asked what our overall vision was. He included both of us in the interview/decision making process. We spent about half an hour with him, going through various fits and styles until we eventually found the PERFECT suit. The fit was amazing, the color was perfect, and the style was something that catered to my boyfriend's comfort level. Brendan even went above and beyond and found the PERFECT pair of dress shoes to go with the outfit. My boyfriend HATES anything that's not a sneaker, but he LOVES these shoes. We ended up leaving the store with exactly what we wanted, and more!
What first began as an overwhelming shopping trip for us (seriously, my boyfriend is the WORST person to shop with), turned out to be an amazing experience. It was the first time that I saw my boyfriend EXCITED about shopping, and extremely pleased with what he left the store with. He was bragging about his purchases all day!
We really owe the success of our experience to Brendan. Without him, I am sure we would have left that store frustrated and empty handed. I think every customer service/sales associate needs to take notes because Brendan has it down...
Read moreI am currently in the process of preparing for my upcoming wedding had received amazing service from both Brenton as well as Kwasi. The process started several weeks ago when I came in to discuss preliminary options for both groomsmen rentals as well as custom tuxedo options. Even though I was not going to make a purchase at that time they both invested the time in me to ensure I had the information I needed to make a good decision. My bridal party is traveling from throughout the US as well as internationally and Kwasi was more than patient as I reached out to him numerous times (even after setting up rental) in order to ease any concerns I or my groomsmen had. I never felt as if I was an inconvenience and I was never on hold for more than a few minutes; He was always able to provide me with a clear and concise answer to any question I had.
He also worked with me to ensure that there would be enough time to address any issues that came up (itâs a wedding⌠things happen). I am keenly aware that the suits are not stored at the local branch and often times they received from a distribution center shortly before the pick-up date; I choose not to have a tight turnaround which could result in problems. One of my groomsmen has gone through his fitting process and everything was exactly as Kwasi promised.
When I came in to finalize everything not only did Kwasi juggle my pragmatism but also an opinionated bride. We both got what we wanted and then very comfortably transitioned me to Brenton. If youâve taken the time to read my prior reviews, you will be able to tell that I am rather particular with what and how I want things. Brenton was able to pick up on my subtle buying cues and put together a custom suit that was exactly what I wanted. He was also able to get the âvisionâ I was going for as well as was knowledgeable about what specific aspects of a suit would best with my body type and a lot of the tedious details became an afterthought. The process was so fluid that when I got home I realized that I hadnât talked through minor details. When I called Brenton back, all of those details were exactly what I wanted, ie. pocket style, vents, pleats, stitching around the buttons. He is very knowledgeable and an excellent guide to anyone new to MTM suits. After a few days I had some additional revisions that I wished to make (nothing to do with the style cues he picked up and selected) and he was more than happy to adjust them yet again.
Do I expect a flawless process across the country? No. Have I and the team at Menâs Warehouse been proactive to ensure that we have the time and ability to address any issues that may come up? Yes. Am I confident that our proper and advance planning will pay off? Yes.
I look forward on updating this...

I generally avoid Men's Wearhouse (particularly the one in Bridgewater near the Somerville Circle) like it's the plague. I have NEVER had a good experience here. Two years ago I unfortunately bought a custom Joseph Abboud suit from here, and after several bad experiences I have never been back. However, there was a problem with the sticky rubber lining of my suit pants as it was starting to tear off and stain/stick to my dress shirts, and I wanted it removed [this lining is supposed to keep your shirt tucked into your pants]. As part of buying the custom suit at Men's Wearhouse, I was told I would get alterations free of cost for the lifetime of the suit, so I decided I would head back in to see if they could help me with this issue.
My experience was no different than two years ago. Snarky rude staff who pay no attention to their customers and have no internal drive to help in any way. William, in particular, was terse and unhelpful, and acted as if I was bothering him by coming in today. His rude demeanor and lack of care was astonishing. He told me nothing could be done and it was just wear and tear of the suit, and that I would just have to deal with it rubbing off on my dress shirts...apparently a $1000 dollar custom suit only lasts 2 years? I subsequently asked if the rubber portion of the waistband could be removed or replaced; I would be happy to pay for a replacement. He told me no. I asked him if he could check with the tailor. He went to the back and emerged after 4 seconds telling me the tailor said no too and that the rubber was embedded into the suit. At this point, I realized I would get no help and that I had made a mistake assuming this Men's Wearhouse had changed in the last 2 years.
I didn't believe William, so at 5pm today (the same day I went to Men's Wearhouse seeking help in regards to the custom suit I bought FROM THEM), I decided to go to my local tailor. I told him the issue, and within 5 seconds of looking at the suit pant, he showed me how easily the rubber lining could be removed, and that it was, in fact, NOT embedded into the suit. My local tailor subsequently completed the job, and at 8pm this same evening I picked up my suit pants (fixed with the rubber lining removed). STAY AWAY FROM MEN'S WEARHOUSE. This place is truly horrendous, the staff is incredibly rude, and they have no value for their customer or the money you spend on their merchandise. Take your...
