Started off very frustrated but ended up pleasantly surprised. We registered for Soccer camp in January, but asked to reschedule in May to a different week. We received an email back stating this would not be a problem and that we were moved to the new week. The weekend before camp we emailed to confirm and we simply got a repsonse that stated "all set" signed by "The Viking Team". At drop off she was not on the list so I showed the email to the coach and showed him the ePact emergency forms I had filled out. Two hours later I get a call from the City Park Department where the camp is being held telling me I needed to come pick up my child becuase she is not registered for camp. No one from Viking has emailed or called me back and this woman from the City Park Department has no idea who I should talk to at Viking.
I am amending my review to say that someone from Viking contacted us the next day and refunded our money and was extremely apologetic about the confusion. I am grateful that someone reached out to us. And a shout-out to the coach who made my child feel...
Read moreI can’t speak for their regular year around activities but their summer camp is a place festering with bullies. The camps are filled with “counselors in training” (CIT’s) who go around verbally and physically bullying the younger kids under the guise of “playing around”, everything from using foul language, calling kids names to “bopping” them on their heads. The camp heads/director were made aware of these issues multiple times but there was no visible action taken other than reprimanding the CITs; nevertheless the behavior didn’t change.
I spoke to some adults who also noted that their kids had similar experiences but the kids are afraid to talk and even more reluctant when something bad happens in a social / peer pressure environment. Encourage your kids to share their stories in a safe space and you’ll be surprised to hear what happens at these camps with “CIT”s.
The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because the camp senior staff acknowledged the issues and “investigated” them; however it failed to produce any...
Read moreBuyer beware. We used the online Viking webpage to sign our son up for a 4 Year Olds’ Beginner’s Basketball Lesson, which were weekly 90 minute sessions at a local elementary school. Upon arriving for the first session we were told that due to Covid restrictions that a parent was not allowed to stay in the gym, a policy which was not listed on the webpage when we signed him up. Understanding that Covid policies were regularly shifting we didn’t make a big deal out of this - however we were not comfortable leaving our 4 year old with strangers wearing masks in a place they’ve never been so we requested a credit for a future Viking activity. After some back and forth, we were assured that we’d be given the credit. Why am I posting about this now all these years later? Because we’ve been attempting to contact Viking for the past 2 weeks via phone and email to sign our son up for a summer camp and access the credit and no one will return our correspondence. They will not honor...
