Took nearly a month and a half to get the lease signed at the front office as nobody seemed to know the status of our application. This should have been my first sign.
Upon moving into a residence with other roommates I noticed that I didn't receive a key fab for the mail room upon move-in. Upon asking Simon (Property Manager) about getting one they stated that I should either track down the previous roommate or pay them $50 to replace a fab I didn't lose.
On move-in day, I noticed the AC was ineffective on the 3rd floor. I notified the property manager and was told someone would be out to provide window units and assess the issue within a day or two: this did not occur. Instead, 3 days later I woke up with a nosebleed due to how dry the air was in my room, call the front desk and was told that they'd send someone over immediately: again this didn't happen. I continuously call and stop by the office each subsequent day for about a week to have someone come and look at the apartment and they do a half job of fixing the problem by putting 1 window unit in one of the two bedrooms on the 3rd floor. I go over to the front office and once again complain of this and Anthony (maintenance worker) very smugly tells me that there was only a request for one unit and that it would have to wait; this is simply not true as in our initial request we specified that the AC did not work for the entire 3rd floor. The lady at the front desk then tells me that someone will be at my apartment within the hour to solve the issue and here I am writing this review without word.
I am not even a month into living in this new complex but the complete disregard for the residents, lack of follow-through and communication, and lack of accountability or concern are already making me feel like I made a mistake in choosing this complex. The area is nice enough but i have never in my adult life had to deal with such...
Read moreOkay apartments, but there are low income residents living here too. Sometimes the elevator will stop working. The rent is excessive. Only because it's Brookline and it's excessable to the Riverside "D", Heath Street "E" trains. 39, 66, 60, 65, Bus lines and walking distance to Stop and Shop grocery store, Starbucks, Dunkin Doughnuts, Beth Israel hospital and the Brookline public library. The Village at Brookline apartments also have a community room, work-out gym and free Wi-Fi on-site. But $2,700 (1 Bedroom) - $5,000 (2 bedrooms) for 2 bedrooms?!
That's $46K+ per year for a 2 bedroom, 925 square ft apartment??!!
3 Bedroom apartment $5,980 per month, over $71K+ per year!! Are you kidding me?!
No dishwasher in unit?! No washer dryer hookup even in the 2 or 3 bedrooms either!! Pets are allowed for an additional monthly fee. ( dogs over a certain size and weight are not allowed period!! No exceptions)
They used have a swiming pool, but the new owners filled it in with concrete. Another problem I noticed was there seems to be a lot of refugees and some mentally ill, section 8 HUD residents living there too. (I'm not racist) but I think you might do better elsewhere.
Parking in the garage is expensive too. If you have visitors, they will have to pay for parking. across the street the expensive parking garage. Because there isn't any free parking for visitors. The Brookline meter maids are also very aggressive with parking tickets! ($100 Million Town cash cow !)
It's a whole other business there! Not to mention the nefarious people who do not live in Brookline that are usually homeless and usually drug addicted "porch pirates", looking to steal your amazon packages or uber eats food, from in front of your building!!📦
They hang around the Marijuana dispensery a block from...
Read moreThe management just discriminated on me and my son for a handicap unit. I feel Simmon should be fired. My son had a complete heart transplant eight months ago. I submitted a copy of his Dr letter but basically it isn't good enough and he will not hold the unit until we get a letter with the Description of his opinion. Like really can we get time to submit the documents in full everyone deserves three to five business days, it a pandemic out here. The letter stated facts so his opinion should not matter. He actually said he understands all about heart transplants and still discriminated against me. Simmon isn't the one who has the final say. Usually it's up to the overseer above him I thought. Only told us Friday we need a reasonable accommodation letter which can take up to three business days. I never even had the chance to submit my letter either from my Dr. Oh but the City funded the apartment complex and we don't meet the income requirements to rent a new units after my son went to review the new apartment and we processed application's. I never had to give a letter to verify my disability are my son's to anyone but my housing case managers. I feel this was asked out of the scope and violated our right to medical privacy at that we are black and shows people are actually judging. I want a lawyer to sue Simmon and a apologie from Winn Management. People in the community are already under distress and emotional. Seriously it pained me to have doors closed in my face before I even finished...
