Rent-A-Center — Local services in Brooklyn

If I could give 0 stars, I would. My fiancé and I purchased a loveseat and sofa set from here, and four days later (after one event of use in our home, because all he and I do is work) the pieces revealed themselves to be utterly infested with bedbugs. Nymphs, eggs, and adults in the crevices, under the cushions, and hiding along the wood frame underneath. All that this Rent a Center, as well as the corporate office, has done is dodge calls and lie to us about working to resolve this issue. When someone did finally get back to us, they sounded surprised that we had removed the furniture from our home and after giving them a week of time to do something about this had the furniture disposed of —as if we were expected to keep bed bug infested furniture in our home, the home that we are trying to prepare for our impending newborn, incase they ever decided to do anything about the problem that they sold to us. Completely unprofessional. Completely unethical. And as far as I’m concerned, all that this place has done is steal our money and our peace of mind. It has been two weeks, and they are still treating this as if it is a non-issue. Considering that this is a matter of public health, this is a completely unacceptable way to conduct business. I have exhausted my abilities to handle this with Rent a Center, and all that’s left to do is spread the word about our experience and to let the people of our quiet corner know that all they’re signing up for here is bedbugs, lost money,...

Just to let everyone know it is against the law for rentacenter to be banging on your door for payment or to be calling you everyday to harass you. It is also against the law for them to call your reference about you oweing them money. The references are to get the item not to call looking to get a hold of you about payment. They harassed my mother all the way in NC looking for me. After i told them the month before to not call my mother anymore she has nothing to do with my payments they called her again thr next month twice harassing again. That is completely against the law and violation of people's privacy rights because the references have no clue they are going to be called about payments and probably didn't know you even wrote them down as a reference. Put in an order for a sleeper sofa a month ago and still have not received a call from the local store to deliver the item. When we called the store all they could say was they see nothing on when it will be delivered to their store and they will call when they know something and we have called multiple times and still the same answer.
