I took my wedding band to Michael Gallagher for repair after many many people recommended them. I wish I had not. The repair took almost twice as long as I was told it would, which wouldn't have been a problem at all if anyone had communicated with me or given an accurate time frame. I had to call several times and make a nuisance of myself to get any kind of answer. I was more than cordial on the phone, and got nothing but attitude back. I was told more than once that they had no idea if my ring was done or not, I was even told that I didn't drop it off there. They argued with me about what date that I dropped it off, saying that's why they couldn't find it, when the date that they had it filed under I was working all day and could not have dropped it off. The correct date was also on the paperwork that they gave me when I dropped it off. I was finally given another timeline for it to be done, the date came and went with no phone call. I had to stop there in person to get any kind of result, then they were apologetic. They did call me the next morning, it was done a day after that, and the owner did discount the repair(without me asking). When I went to pick it up, the girl handed me my ring with a very obvious repair. The missing stone was replaced but all around it and the next five stones was black like it had been dipped in soot, I questioned it and she offered to clean it. Why would it not have already been cleaned? She came back with it still very dark in that section. I've cleaned it three times with gold cleaner since getting it home and it is slightly brighter, but still very dark in that section, the diamonds are now uneven and crooked, the band itself is splotchy, dull, scratched and rough in a few spots. I have even had other people look at it without telling them which side the repair is to make sure I'm not being overly critical, and it's been obvious to everyone.
I wasn't going to review them just for the embarrassing and shameful customer service, I planned to just not go back, but my ring being butchered has tipped the scales away from cordiality. I trusted them with one of my most sentimentally valued possessions, and they treated it like garbage and me...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went here to pick out my first Trollbead clasp and bead for my birthday. We chose Michael Gallagher Jewelers because it's the closest Trollbead retailer to our home and they were hosting a special promotion (buy $150 in Trollbeads and get a $25 gift certificate, a cinch sack, and free bracelet with clasp).
Walking in we were greeted by a strong cigarette smell which was a bit off-putting, but didn't detract from the service. A saleswoman immediately greeted and assisted us. She was very helpful in selecting a clasp and suggested stoppers to prevent losing the bead.
Overall the experience was okay. The store's appearance was a bit frumpy and the smell was weird, but the sales person was helpful and they had a good selection of items. I will probably return here when they have other Trollbead events, but I don't see myself shopping...
