An older gentleman who works in the meat department recently referred me to the pulled pork and some BBQ sauce (old west). He was so hospitable and sold me on both so I brought them home. I ate some of the smoked pork with the barbecue sauce which was delicious and froze the rest of the pork that I didn't use up. I then had a plain pork tenderloin that I grilled and basted with that same barbecue sauce he suggested... My oh my delicious!! I'm a chef and I usually cook my sauces from scratch. I love Coborn's but I have to say I was disappointed today with the bakery. I ordered a chocolate cake and got marble for my sons graduation. My son hates marble. The manager said if we hadn’t eaten some of it he could make a new one. Really? Most people don’t slice open the cake until your guests are there. Plus, what are going to say wait until I get the right cake. How dumb. Then he said he would give me a discount on a future cake. Never said how much of a discount. I just purchased a blueberry scone and a strawberry cream cheese danish. What an absolute disappointment! Not sure what factory they are coming from but the scone was stiff, overly sweetened, and tasted of way too much baking powder! The danish was worse! It was doughy, hard, not fluffy at all, and tasteless. I threw it in the trash. To spend $2+ on a pastry that isn’t even as palatable as outdated PopTarts is terrible! Corporate needs to do a serious assessment of quality. Or perhaps they lack any sense of taste to start with. What a failure for an outfit that...
