This is actually a review for Burke Lawn Service, which is a division of the Burke Nursery:
Because of the rain and high humidity we had about a month ago, my lawn was filled with brown areas caused by a fungus. I initially contacted TruGreen to get an estimate for taking care of the problem. The tech who came to look at the damaged lawn said that he had no idea what was causing the brown areas, but he would put some "stuff" on the lawn to fix the problem. When he admitted that he was new to the job, I sent him away and contacted several other lawn services in the area. After talking to Eric, the owner of Burke Lawn Care, I realized that he knew exactly what caused the brown areas to develop and also knew exactly what to do to fix the problem. Eric walked my property with me, pointed out areas that needed attention, suggested things I could do in the future to avoid problems, and explained in detail the services that he offered. Not once during our conversation did he try to upsell products or services; he simply pointed out what he had to offer. After discussing various options, I decided to have the lawn aerated, reseeded and fertilized with starter fertilizer. It has now been two weeks since the job was completed, and there are only two small brown areas remaining. After contacting Eric about the two areas, he came to inspect the lawn and indicated that those areas would be completely filled in during the next week. The lawn looks amazing at this point, especially since many other surrounding lawns are browning out from lack of rain and other factors. I am 100% satisfied with the work that was done and will continue to have them service my lawn. This is truly one of those rare occasions where a job was done that exceeded my...
Read moreWe came for the fall festival and enjoyed ourselves. There's lots for kids to do, although I'd argue that most of it is more geared to younger kids except maybe the hay ride and the bigger slides, of which they do have several. We saw a few older kids who seemed to enjoy themselves, but most kids were around 2-6 in age. The price on weekends and holidays is a bit steep in my opinion, so if you can, try to go on weekdays. You can re enter within the same day, and you get a pumpkin with the price of admission. Pony rides, moon bounce, and face painting are extra. We brought our own food in but they also have concessions. All in all, the kids had a blast and didn't want to leave. We were there for almost 4 1/2 hours. There are several separate play areas: tractor, truck, wagon, pirate ship, train, castle, swings, rolling tubes, ghost slide, and 4 carpet slides. There's a small section with farm animals but you can't pet them as they are behind chicken wire. There's no indoor bathrooms, just port a potties, but they do have an outdoor changing area and one outside sink to wash hands. They sell a lot of jams and sauces in the store and although we didn't go to it, have a plant nursery. I'd say it's a fun treat in the fall. Staff were pleasant...
Read moreOverpriced Orange Jolly Bagged Potting soil with Knat Fungus Eggs right out of the bag in the house, no returns accepted.
8/8/21 “horticulturist” dispatched over radio to inspect our one $13 overpriced bag of soil return needs to be retrained in communication and customer service. Explained to her and three different employees we purchased multiple bags of soil and encountered KNAT FUNGUS EGGS AND FLIES in the soil and kindly asked for a return or exchange. The expert horticulturist got a spade and sifted our soil in a box like it was a crime scene. She said no flies in the soil, I assured her there were flies coming from the bag for weeks. As well as the heat from sitting in the car for two summer days would fry them. She argued saying gnats thrive in heat and would be there. U of CO states knat flies die in 180 degrees for 30 mins so we weren’t lying lol. A half off discount to buy more bugged soil was laughable.
Backyard soil is better quality than here. Will avoid this place and shop at Merri Fields or Homedepot. We appreciated our thanks for spending $250 each summer on a...
