I love super H-mart, as a former chef but this location was something out of a 1950s dystopian past. My fiancé and I were shopping for groceries. We were heading to the register but not before passing the live crab and lobster. We considered buying crab. They had Dungeness, our favorite. They looked massive, so we used the tongs to pick one up to see the size. Almost immediately a staff person came up behind us and suggested that what we were doing was ‘dangerous’. He implied that we needed help. I politely said, ‘no, we’re fine thanks. Making decisions.’ He didn’t leave us to do so. He continued following us in the area until we felt uncomfortable so we left. We headed straight for the register. We know that was a prejudice encounter but we thought we’ll just leave and it will end. The cashier’s first question to us — (no hello, how are you) ‘Is this going to be a separate transaction?’ We had more than $100 worth of groceries in our cart and we were clearly a couple. We had only one cart. He continued to ask, ‘Will you pay separately?’ I’m not sure what about us, gave the impression that we were two individual customers, paying separately no less, pulling groceries onto the conveyer belt from the same cart. This assessment is beyond me but prejudice comes to mind! It was wild. So I tell the cashier how I feel and tell him his questions are inappropriate and that if someone is doing a separate transaction they would let him know. I also shared the experience we had trying to pick out crab 🦀 in the fish market and told him that this experience also reeked of prejudice. I asked to speak with a manager. I was told by him and customer service that there wasn’t one present or on duty. We left got in the car, shaken and vowed never to come back to this location. Sadly it doesn’t end here 😩. Something told me to look at the receipt. We were erroneously charged $44 for one bunch of Chinese chives!! While the cashier, Sam took responsibility for his mistake, it was his prejudice comments made initially, upon checkout that stuck with me. The irony of it all! In short, avoid this location. Horrible...
Read moreJust had the most horrendous possible experience, so apparently the restaurants are not affiliated with the actual store and the manager at the store will do nothing to help you
if you are brutally verbally attacked by a crazy pperson who just comes out to say all of these slanderous things and starts recording and filming you because he wants to Get off on it somehow
when you’re so much in danger that you’re screaming for the manager to help you and trying to talk this person down who is clearly lost something and the manager does nothing
then you have to get the police involved because the manager is so rude that he won’t do anything to help you
I will never go back to the store for the rest of my life. This is an absolute infinity. Oh not to mention half the security cameras when the police finally got a hold of the footage were mysteriously not working
You not safe here.
Considering the wonderful diversity that we have in America, there are plenty of other Korean grocery stores that I will and be happy to shop at never this one again ever H Mart.
Ps
Now they have the audacity and stupidity and dumb confounding thing to say that they wish me the best when that’s not possible because their reaction last time when they had their only chance to actually resolve a situation was so flat falling that it’s irreparably broken now watch the video they did not respond in any way professional it’s a disgrace
Oh, and never call me a valued customer ever again because I attribute absolutely no value whatsoever to...
Read moreMe and my family we love to shop in Asian markets, such as Great wall, Hmart, Lotte, and we love their products. This new Hmart is very neat and clean because it is a brand new store, and you can find almost everything in here. The problem is the cashiers! They are not nice at all, they all kind and welcoming for old people, rich looking white people ONLY! For young people, Asians(excluding koreans), black people, middle easterners, euro-asians they are very cold and grumpy. my family and I we're from Asia, and every single time we shop here, the lady with red hair and short physique never ever says HELLO, OR THANK YOU. She greeted the couple before us in line in a very welcoming way, but once we came she was not even making eye contacts. Hmart shouldn't act like they're the only asian mart around lol, we can take our money somewhere else if they keep treating people like that. We will actually if this happens one more time. Hopefully the management sees my review and fix this issue ASAP!. They can even contact me by sending me private messages, I cant leave my phone number in here. If this keeps happening Hmart will lose customers, and the respect from the rest of the world. We know koreans can be cold, but we're spending money, we are paying, they should show hospitality towards...
