Let’s address the elephant in the room—Sprouts Farmers Market encourages customers to bring their own bags by charging 10¢ per paper bag. Honestly, I prefer this over Aldi, which doesn’t offer any bags at all, even for a fee. So if that’s a deal breaker, now you know—but it really shouldn’t be.
Sprouts has a clean, well-organized interior and a tidy exterior. Shelves are front-faced, always stocked, and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and constantly working to keep things looking great.
That said, prices tend to be slightly higher than other major retailers. For example, as of June 30, 2025: • 1 gallon of whole milk: $3.99 (Walmart $2.57, Target $2.59) • A dozen eggs: $3.99 (Walmart $2.72, Target $2.79) • Large Hass avocados: 2 for $5 at Sprouts ($2.50 each), compared to 99¢ each at Walmart and 79¢ each at Target
So if you’re shopping for basic staples, expect to pay a bit more. But if your priority is organic, clean-label, or farm-to-table options, Sprouts is one of the better mainstream grocery chains out there.
