For months, I have been seeing an ad on Facebook for this restaurant. I never had the opportunity to go until yesterday, April 16th.
In a moment, I will explain why I gave the restaurant such a low rating.
Now for the positives of the restaurant.
The atmosphere is lively and bright so you can enjoy a pretty good Ambience when you get there.
All the staff are genuinely friendly and nice and not putting on a fake smile or fake happiness. They all look like they enjoyed working there. With that kind of attitude, that really helps with the service towards the customers.
But be prepared, though, if you've never been there before, to read a pretty big menu board with lots of choices to choose from.
Everything that they have to offer makes it really hard to choose from just what you want to pay for when your eyes are looking at the menu board and going " I want it all but I can't eat all that much less pay for all that!" If you ask me, that's a great place to be in when they have so much to offer and so much to choose from!
Oh and in case if you were wondering about the free margaritas with your food? The answer is yes! You do get free margaritas with your food.
AND.... thanks to our Governor Abbott and changing the law to where we could walk out a restaurant with alcohol as long as there was a food attached to it? You get to take a cup of those margaritas out with your food with you! How great is that!
While sitting down waiting on my food to show up, I got to take in the restaurant and the food that was coming off the kitchen. It all look top-notch and really good! I couldn't wait to get mine!
For an appetizer for myself I ordered the half order of the boudin balls which is 3 and it does not disappoint! Fried just right, the Boudin seasoned just right, dunk a part of that into some ranch dressing and you are in 7th Heaven!
For my main meal, I ordered the shrimp, sausage, and crawfish gumbo... Bowl size for $7.99. What showed up? Was not a bowl. In fact it was nowhere close to a bowls worth of food but in fact a cups worth. And my girlfriend ordered a cup of the same thing and that cup was not much smaller than the bowl that I ordered.
Don't get me wrong the dish itself was full of flavor.
I'm not going to deny that.
Why I took off so many stars is the fact that I paid $8 for something that was supposed to be bowl size and I got a cups worth. Not only that, but there was supposed to be rice in with the gumbo. I finally found the rice and at the bottom of that supposed bowl there was one tablespoon of rice and that was it. There should have been more than a tablespoons worth of rice in that meal.
To further my point about the size of the bowl, I took a picture of it next to a regular size coffee cup to prove my point about this size and being called a bowl when in fact it is not it's a cups worth but got charged for a bowls worth.
So now you know why I only gave this place one star because I was highly disappointed in the fact that I was highly overcharged for a menu item that I should have only got charged for a cup size price but not only that, there wasn't enough rice to accompany the dish like there should have been.
Will I be back?
Maybe if what I ordered, I order again and it's given to me in the correct proportion sizes that...
Read moreCrawfish was to mushy to eat called back because it was an pick up order and spoke with someone on the phone. Told them the crawfish were to mushy to eat and I wanted to bring them back. I had barely touch either of the 4pd pans. Lady said No just throw them out and to come back they would replace them. I did just that and drove back to the restaurant. When I get there I was informed they would not replace the whole 8 pds only 4 pds. I was upset because I just spent 100 dollars in your establishment and the crawfish was bad to the point they weren't edible adv you tell me one thing but then do another. I just said ok because at this point I just want to get back home and eat with my family. Honestly should have been offered a refund. The lady ask me my flavor and I tell her. Had to wait even though she said 20 minutes... Received the crawfish and took them home. Get to the house to finally eat and 75 percent of the crawfish are worst than the first pans I had. I don't complain about size even though these were clearly the smallest I ever ate. The flavor was wrong it was garlic butter which I asked for the crazy Cajun hot. I am so upset at that point the little muddy mushy nasty crawfish with no flavor and are not edible. I just doesn't 70 dollars Monday and then come back Wednesday to spend 100 and this is what I get... Hungry and having to go to a different establishment and spend more money when I should be full already like the rest of my family. So much for a freaking birthday Dinner... Never again and I'm reporting this every where I can bc the service was not up to phase and the crawfish...
Read moreStarting off the fried seafood po'boys and free beer is great and so are the fried green tomatoes. Bar food quality. If you're looking for a place to pregame before hitting the scene then this is your place. If you want good seafood and Cajun food then drive a couple extra miles to boo rays in Crowley.
I give this 2 stars because there are better places in the area.
Alligator was dry.
1/2 crab and 1/2 shrimp tasted like leftovers. It tasted like the precooked stuff you get at the store and cook at home. Has that bottom of the ocean floor flavor.
I didn't finish my meal and didn't bother to take any home and I hate wasting food. I just couldn't stomach making myself finish it.
Had the crawfish before and it seemed like 3/4 of the "dead ones" were cooked. If you know crawfish then you know what I mean.
I've been boiling crustaceans for parties for 13 years and know all the good tricks and what it takes to make a good meal for people without being overly fancy.
Staff is sub par. One nice person. Everyone else is either making minimum wage or doesn't care about their job.
Improve the cooking or change your distributor. Learn some tricks if you are using precooked food and no extra salt is not the answer so please don't try that.
I feel like for 60 bucks I could've gotten my kid a used game at GameStop down the road and a meal at Chic FIL A rather than this.
Fried pickles are average. Sausage tastes generic.
Free beer and not tipping is the only benefit here.
Sorry but you need to improve the cooking.
Unless my kid begs me,...
