Last year I was coming to the outlet a lot after work bc I worked in Ky but live in Cincy. They had alot of good sales going on but the store was a little messy. One of the last times I was there I could hear two associates arguing about whether one should confront me or pull me to the side or not. I was leaving some of the hangers on the racks and just throwing certain things in my bag. Which in hindsight was rude and tacky of me. I didn’t have a lot of space in my shopping bag and I have back issues so I just didn’t want a heavy bag. My sister also called on FaceTime to see if there were any clothes she wanted while I was out. She lives even further out than me. We also were leaving the country in a few weeks. I hate FaceTiming in public but I was trying to be discreet and kept to one section of the store. I maybe should not have done any of what I was doing. Bc it can ruin the experience for other people. It took me a moment to realize it but an associate was following me around. I kept seeing a young lady following me. And at times a young man. The young lady seemed to wanted to confront me. It seemed insidious to me. The young male associate was telling the young lady “not to do that to her.” I also over heard him saying “I don’t think she’s doing that.” It seemed she thought I was stealing. I don’t know why or how she would think that. The male associate was trying to stop her but she was adamant to stop me in the middle of the store. I’m a bigger person and the store doesn’t have a ton of options for people my size. I have to search and I find a lot of gems there! But it takes time. And I enjoy shopping and taking my time. Anyway I checked out and I felt really violated. I hadn’t been back until recently and as I was in the athleta section I turned around and sure enough it seemed like an associate ran to “discreetly” monitor me. I don’t get that. I took my time anyway. In that section and in others I came to spend $50 and I spent triple that. I got some good stuff that I can’t wait to wear. I recommend it to anyone who likes to thrift and treasure hunt. But I personally will never be back. I don’t expect a Hermes level of service but I will not be treated like a thief and I refuse to be monitored that way. It’s weird and uncomfortable and extremely unprofessional. My money is good if the gap outlet doesn’t want it then I’ll throw my dollars elsewhere. I’m on the offense about recommending this place to anyone else. I don’t...
Read moreI am a longtime patron of this factory outlet (20 years) and usually recommend it to others. It has rock-bottom prices. You have to check each item you try on since the merchandise could have been returned for any reason. I've always saved a lot of money, especially during school shopping season.
With that being said, the store is mostly for women, which is why I can't give it more than three stars. There used to be about a 60/40 split between women's and men's clothing. Now it's closer to 90/10. And if you wear sizes that are "normal" for men, the selection is quite narrow. When I went there last, there was a whole bin of men's shorts marked down to $1.99. The only problem was they were all size 52. The women's section boasts many choices, including maternity and athletic wear, and there is a modest boys, girls, and infant/toddler section.
There is an ample supply of changing rooms. You don't feel rushed and you can easily stay there two hours. New supplies of clothes usually arrive near the beginning of the week, with most of the selection having been picked over by Sunday. All sales are final, but you can use GAP/Old Navy cash you've earned at other non-clearance stores. Bathrooms are on the premises, and the staff is usually attentive to your needs. There are plenty of places to eat in the surrounding area.
So, my only criticism is that I wish the store would reconsider its practice of slashing the men's department. If you go to the stand-alone stores, there is a fairer proportion of women's and men's merchandise, so why not here? Guys need deals on...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews im going to make it clear to everyone about how the GAP CLEARENCE CETNER is. This location is the only location in the world. The one and old gap clearance center. It get clothes from all its brands stores that are damaged , defective , or returned. It also gets clothes that was bulk, or never worn or sold. IT does also get some high end brands from the piperlime collection. I don't know why people are complaining about high prices or broken zippers, you are going to a clearance center people. so you obviously have to be ready to see a defect here and there. If you don't like that then don't go. The reason why clothes may be on a rack that is priced but when you go to the register and they tell you different is either the item didn't belong on that rack in the first place and some other customer just threw it there, or it has a sensor on it for a high price cause its either a high end item or " first quality " which means its never been worn , perfect condition & probably only one season old. you can get some good steals here. brand new banana republic shirts with price tags still on for 80$ but get it for 4.99. remember its called a clearance center, you win some you loose some. not everything there is perfect nor bad. your still saving $$$$$ compared to shopping from the...
