George Thompson Diamond Company – Review

We just got back from a two-week vacation in Thailand. We went with George Thompson to Bangkok to visit his factory, so we could see up close how my wife’s beautiful custom-made Sapphire-Diamond white-gold ring was designed, created, and fabricated. George gave us the VIP tour, explaining every manufacturing step, and process involved in the making of his beautiful jewelry designs. We even watched the sorting of diamonds by size, color, clarity, and quality by his highly skilled staff. His ingenious on-sight 3D computer program can display any white or yellow gold design in any size, color, and gemstone in virtual reality with the press of a few keystrokes. His designer demonstrated how my wife’s ring became a reality just by retrieving her data. He is a true artist, and master. It was a magical moment for both of us. We took a lot of pictures around the factory, and even got George in a few with us. We love the family atmosphere of the staff both in the Bangkok factory, and in the amazing Camarillo store with its magnificent enormous selection of breathtaking settings and gems. We get warm greetings as best friends even when we just drop in to say hello, and have our rings cleaned. I was very displeased with George Thompson. We had him design a custom ring set for us. The finished product was quite different then the CAD picture they had sent us prior to the ring being made. The quality of the diamonds were not the quality promised by George. We had the ring appraised immediately after receiving and found that not only were the diamonds of lower quality then we were told and paid for, but they were also low quality and not 'ideal' cut diamonds. The entire construction of the ring was tacky, unfinished, and NOT what we had asked for. I learned after the fact that George never attended any type of schooling for jewelry design and it is my understanding that nobody that works at George Thompson has. Additionally, George charged our card $300 more then we were quoted without our knowledge. George did not deny the many defects of the ring when I brought them to his attention and he offered to take off $2500 for the many flaws, or to start over from scratch, however after dealing with him and his company we feel very uncomfortable working with him and would NEVER recommend this...

Robert, Kent and George are the best in the business. We walked in to pick up a repair and discuss options for a new wedding set. We sat down with Robert who was very patient with my lovely wife. Robert showed us just about everything in the case. After a bathroom break and some more showings from their collection. Kent sat down with us and showed us diamonds that would match the wedding set she picked out. George walked over and introduced himself, very nice and receptive to us. Absolutely no pressure from any of them. Actually they would say if it doesn't talk to you than it's not for you, we found we this statement very comforting and knew we were in the right place. We did end up upgrading her wedding set and she was in tears full of joy. We couldn't be happier with the customer service and the atmosphere at George Thomas's is by far the best of the best.
