I called to ask if they had a thread adapter because my mic didn’t sit on the boom arm I bought, I told him specifically it’s not threading on because its not the same size and he cut me off and said no they’re universal it should work. I told him the boom arm brand (proline) and mic brand (yeti orb) to make sure and then he said no it should work just unscrew it from the bottom. Which by the way one end is bigger than the other but I felt stupid because I couldn’t figure it out so I told him okay I’ll come to the store and have him check it out he said okay. I drive 28 minutes to get to this guitar center I waited for him for about 10 minutes to get out the back for him to look at me while finishing checking out another customer and says let me see the mic then he grabs the mic untwists the stand twists it back on and goes like yea we don’t have anything like that here sorry and sets it down on the table and finishes helping the customer like I didn’t know it’s not the same size and it wouldn’t fit… I look at him and he was already to busy to ask a question so I walk away.I’m in the parking lot typing this out from how frustrated I am. I have NEVER written a bad review before and I’m so upset that my first one has to be guitar city . I have so much more to say honestly I do but no one wants to type or read all this.. and sorry to the good coworkers that are at this place because I did read a couple good reviews but what I saw wasn’t anywhere close to anything like those reviews I usually wouldn’t care but it’s just I was so specific over the phone and I had to take my setup down and repackage everything for literally nothing. Like bro I didn’t even get welcomed when I walked in they just looked at me one of them just walked right past me didn’t ask if I needed help or...
Read moreWe've been prowling the aisles of Guitar Center Canton for the better part of three decades — thirty years of strings, amps, and that sweet tang of new gear smell — and not once have they dropped the ball. This week's episode was no exception.
Enter Alex in guitar repair: a man who doesn't just fix guitars — he communes with them. Friendly, professional, and grinning like someone who's already lived three lives on stage, he's the sort of tech who could restring your instrument while telling war stories from the road and still have time to hand you a piece of rock' n' roll wisdom you didn't know you needed. He took our son's 12-string Breedlove and not only gave it new strings and perfect intonation but also injected it with some intangible mojo. Advice flowed like bourbon in a backstage greenroom — tips he picked up when he was starting, plus the sort of tricks you only earn from years in the trenches.
And then there's Martin, Executive Sales & Training Manager, a stalwart presence in these hallowed halls of gear. A handshake from Martin is like plugging into a well-worn amp — warm, familiar, and humming with the promise of something great about to happen.
From the moment we walked in, it was instant service, no fuss — the kind of attention you usually have to beg for in this cold, transactional world. Instead, we were treated like returning royalty, which, after nearly thirty years of loyalty, feels exactly right.
P.S. If you want to find the real players — the road-tested pros who've ridden the highs and lows of the circuit — you come here. These are the salt-of-the-earth musicians, the ones who've seen the lights go up and down a thousand times and are still here, passing the torch to the...
Read moreUpdate: Killing time and actually found a guitar I liked and bought it. The following still is happening. I've been to this Guitar Center location many times. My current job and position require that I travel extensively and normally visit other Guitar Centers around the nation and have purchased equipment and guitars on a whim just because of the sound and feel of the guitar. The luthier "Shaun" I spoke with was without a doubt the most helpful and knowledgeable Bass luthier I have met in a very long time. He showed me an amplifier and Bass I liked, even though I came to purchase a Mic, stand, and recording equipment I had originally come to purchase Watch for the Sales, i stress this because this is when you score great gear for excellent prices. Take your time, don't be impulsive, unless you are absolutely certain of the purchase. This GC has some extremely knowledgeable people. Take your time and ask questions, you will be surprised what you can learn, just Chill.... It's a large store and so much to hear. Remember the GC sales are people who have good and bad days like everyone else. Don't take everything personal, tomorrow is a new day, plus you may get a better deal the next day. All that being said, if you find something you've been looking for , get it. I missed 1 guitar and have been bummed ever since. It was a $150 guitar but sounded and played great. Last but not least, ask to finance a piece of equipment, 6 months @ 0% interest. $1400 pays off quick. Any used GC equipment can be sent nation wide without any bs hassle. I'm 4 Basses deep and just getting started with...
