I made a trip out to Canton today since I was looking for a good, local bookstore. I think I found it at A Wicked Read. The store has floor-to-ceiling shelves full of both fiction and non-fiction reads. Everything was sorted well and I was happy with the selection. They also have a large selection of bookmarks as well! I’m obsessed with bookmarks, so that’s such a plus! Also worth noting that the staff members were very kind. I had some trouble opening the door (it’s heavy, y’all) and they opened it up for me while welcoming me in. They all chatted a bit, asked what I was looking for, and put me right at ease. I do get a little anxious at any new place, so I really do appreciate being seen and assisted in such a kind way. There was also a lil pup named Olaf who was walking around too. He was so sweet! I love bookstore pets! I did purchase a book and after looking for a bit, their prices are comparable to other local stores and very reasonable. Either way, I love supporting local businesses especially those that are welcoming and kind, so I’d gladly pay a few dollars more if needed! Overall, a cute and quaint little shop with good prices and good selection. I’ll...
Read moreThis bookstore boasts some impressive quantities of books for sale and certainly makes the most of their vertical space; we're talking about books stacked around and between the ceiling joists ten or fifteen feet overhead here! Like I said, the bookshelves are very impressive, well-ordered and accessible with the shelf ladder (though you should probably ask for Genevieve's help with this).
I recently joined the Little Free Library program, and for only $10 I came away with a small moving box filled with books, enough books to seed around three Little Free Libraries! Be sure to ask Genevieve about any coming book sales, take a business card and check in regularly; from Classic to Contemporary, she's certain to have a book — or many books — that you'll love!
(And I have no idea which store The Stantons down there walked into, but it certainly wasn't A Wicked Read! This is NOT that kind of bookstore, not by leagues. Stantons, if you're going to write Fiction, do it in the form of books, NOT in the form of baseless and malicious One Star Google...
Read moreThe small storefront opening up to a dazzling floor-to-ceiling display of books calls to mind Ollivander's wand shop from Harry Potter, and inspires equal excitement and wonder. Their selection is varied and novel: you will find a great number of unique, even antique finds there along with all the classics and some modern, popular reads. They even offer Blind Date With a Book for very affordable prices, if you're so inclined or suffer from analysis paralysis like me. And, they are kid-friendly. There's a nook full of children's books where your little ones can explore new favorites of their own, and recline at the table or bean bag. There really is something for everybody, and the owner is friendly and helpful. It's your...
