DO NOT GO HERE FOR A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS!
The intake phone operators are salespeople and will LIE to get you in the door. I was distinctly told on the phone with intake that I could stay for 7 days, which is what I knew I needed to stabilize. It wasn't until I was there, locked behind doors, that I was told that they only do a 28 day program. I was repeatedly told "well intake isn't even part of this facility, so I don’t know why you were told that" without ANY solution. I was gaslit by every "professional" I saw who acted like I was crazy for saying I was told that I could stay for 7 days. I even gave them the name of the intake person and STILL had to fight to convince them this is what I was told. 2 case managers and my "therapist" then ADMITTED I WAS LIED TO, but offered no help or solutions. I was told "I could leave at any time" which was NOT true as I was obviously behind locked doors, they had all of my medication and personal affects, and I would be leaving "against medical advice" which can affect insurance coverage for some insurance companies.
The lack of communication and information is abhorrent. I had no idea if I was going to be able to leave after a week for DAYS. The anxiety this caused me was almost worse than when I arrived. I felt trapped and there was no real mental health professional to help me.
Another LIE: I was told on the phone during intake that I'd be given individual therapy tailored to my needs and past therapy experience.
It took 5 days to see a therapist and I only saw her once. She was a joke who just liked to hear herself talk. I begged her for help and she just wrote me a 28 day plan, not hearing a word I said. It took 4 days to see a psychiatrist who put me on 2 more meds after talking to me for 15 minutes and I never saw her again. Neither of them provided any real support or help.
The true basis of the program is group sessions. There are multiple group sessions a day, half of which are led by some random unprepared person. I can't tell you the amount of times the person running the group came in late and said "Sorry I didn't know I was doing this today, I work in detox, not this wing." Then we'd be handed a worksheet that said 'write down 3 things you're grateful for.' It would last for 10 minutes. The other half of the sessions would often be cancelled, usually at least one session a day. I'd go to the group rooms and there'd be no person running it, no one there.
I ultimately left against medical advice, which is wildly irresponsible and infuriating because I was TOLD I could stay for 7 days. I ended up leaving during a group session and the group leader asked if I was leaving against medical advice in front of everyone. I quietly said yeah. He then said to me, in front of the entire group, as if using me as an example, "Well bad things happen when people leave against medical advice" and preached about how bad it is and how I was making a mistake when he had NO idea of my circumstances or situation. Again, I was leaving this place worse than when I arrived.
Lastly, they kept my glucose tablets in my luggage floors away, so when I had a severe blood sugar drop, it took 30 minutes for me to get the medication I needed. Why wasn't this with the rest of the over the counter medication I brought with me? So irresponsible.
Do not go here. It was a waste of money I don't have. Now I have a huge amount of medical debt for the experience of being gaslit, lied...
Read moreI checked into Bedrock Recovery on July 2nd 2024. I spent 28 days at Bedrock in total. The first 5 days were spent in detox. While I was there, the nurses and staff while were amazing! They monitored me closely while making sure I had what I needed to be as comfortable as possible during my detox. After these first 5 days, I moved up to residential where I spent the following 23 days. Similar to the detox unit, the rooms were clean and comfortable with a spacious bathroom and plenty of room for personal belongings. The staff (floor techs) were awesome. From checking in doing room checks to making sure everyone is okay, to transitioning us to/from the unit and also making themselves available to talk, listen or help you with anything you may need. The nursing staff was just as amazing. I really can’t say enough good things about the nursing staff on both the detox floor and CSS are simply amazing. They are beyond caring, patient, and just make you feel safe when you are feeling most vulnerable. Being away from home and family is hard especially while being treated for addiction, but the staff does an amazing job with making Bedrock feel like home. The kitchen staff was amazing as well. We always had 3 filling meals a day. Food was okay, definitely very heavy foods and slightly on the unhealthy side. There are usually always options to eat or snack on during off hours. That was the only downside - there were not many healthy meal options available. The group facilitators are some of the best humans. They become like family as well. They truly care about your well being. Some of the facilitators and clinicians/case mangers were the reasons why I stayed when I wanted to leave due to being home sick etc. The groups are great and the community that you build amongst your peers is life changing. Mostly all of the employees whether they are employed by Bedrock or Ark are amazing and passionate about working there and actually care about each patient. CSS would not thrive if Stacey did not run around making sure we had our activity time & sharing her smiles. She always made sure we were okay and having some fun during our busy days. Ken, Nicole, Katie, Tim, & Mia ran amazing groups and treated us with respect and compassion! Mathe is nothing short of a walking blessing. Not only are his groups engaging and meaningful he truly inspires and pushes you to want to be and do better. Chelsea was the friendliest face you could count on seeing daily, who made sure we always had what we needed and made sure we were always okay. I have never met someone so selfless when it comes to caring about the patients at bedrock. If there is anyone that goes above and beyond their job title she is definitely it! This was my first time in treatment for Addiction and I would recommend Bedrock in a heartbeat to anyone who needs help. Unfortunately, aftercare planning is lacking a bit. It’s not really a priority and does not seem to be taken too seriously. Thankfully, I was able set up a plan for myself with the help of other employees/facilitators. All and all Bedrock saved my life and I am forever grateful to them and all the tools, knowledge, and community they gave to me and would highly recommend it to anyone who is struggling with addiction , substance abuse or mental...
Read moreBedrock Mental Health has saved me from suicidal ideations more than once. The first time I spent two weeks there, and when I needed help again this autumn, I knew exactly where to return it. The entire facility is impressive, especially compared to the constrictive environments of most mental health facilities, especially across the state of Massachusetts. Bedrock’s quality is consistent - impeccable cleanliness, nutritious warm delicious meals three times per day, group facilitators who care about patients beyond the group room, behavioral health techs that make an effort to make patients feel included, supported and love. When I was there this past May, it was a quick two week stay for me, and I made it through the summer with manageable mental health, holding down a full time job. Dealing with major depressive disorder, I returned to Bedrock Mental Health this September and stayed for four weeks straight, doubling the length of my prior visit .. an easy decision knowing how much I got out of Ark Behavioral Health the first time around. I work in treatment myself, and Bedrock operates with care in what feels like a family style setting - all of the staff across all departments have interpersonal positive relationships which radiate positive energy throughout the treatment center. I benefited from groups on DBT, CBT, ACT, boundaries, coping skills and more. Four days per week they have outside fitness instructors come in to facilitate classes like yoga and pound class. The art studio is used several times per week and even accessible for patients to access materials around the clock. The outdoor patio includes outside furniture, a ping pong table, cornhole, a basketball hoop, and more. Patients also have daily time with cell phones, which is unique to a mental health inpatient program. There’s a gym, a movie theatre, private connecting bathrooms to the rooms. Most importantly, the 24/7 fully staffed nursing unit is second to none in the field of mental health. The nurses truly work for the patients, offer comfort and a lending hand, and work all day to ensure patient vitality and to put smiles on patients. This is the only inpatient mental health facility that I would send a loved one because I experienced it first hand and felt extremely safe on the unit the entire time. There’s also nightly outside AA and NA commitments, and two days per week there’s peer led recovery meetings with other units. This entire program is well thought out and truly a place to get stabilized, get help, have medication monitored, and to leave better than...
