First off, let's say there are not a lot of good options in this area. However, this decent Courtyard tries but misses on many levels. As a Marriott Gold member, I found the place average to slightly below average for this chain.
Décor (9 out of 10): Rooms are updated, lobby is extremely nice (part of the new Courtyard redesign). It has all the new and nice amenities (flat screen, nice desk, etc.). The bed was very comfortable and the room had both a mini-refrigerator (listed on website) and an microwave (not listed on website). Had two queens - not the typical two doubles. Rooms are good size.
Cleanliness: (5 out of 10): There was visible mold on the grout of the shower tiles, the desk had some sticky stuff on it at check-in. My wife called the room "filthy". I am a bit less picky but even to me it was not truly a clean room. Apparently, lot of quick surface cleaning and that is it. Everything was properly replenished every day.
Staff: (9 out of 10): Efficient, customer-service oriented, very friendly and welcoming. Quickly took care of our requests
Attention to Detail: (4 out of 10): They have a mini-frig, microwave and coffee pot in one area across from the sink, but the cords lead into a cabinet to a two plug outlet behind the refrigerator -so you have to unplug at least one item to use the other. Couldn't they have put a 4 plug extension or outlet here? The lamps at the desk had 2 outlets, but the outlets were so worn that my phone kept going off and on (shorting) because of a loose connection - they should have been replaced. There were no other outlets near the desk - only those 2 - need more. There was no luggage rack in the room - when we asked they said they had to be requested(??!). The HVAC did not work properly - you set the heat to 86 and it still blew cold air for 10 min before heating up. Finally, no complimentary coffee in the lobby in the AM (unlike other Courtyards) - you have to pay for it. Really?
Location: (7 out of 10). Quiet location, close to a few restaurants, and a movie theater and plenty of close parking. If you have to work in the Stoughton/Randolph/Brockton area, it is a good location - otherwise go ito a different suburb. Venture a few miles away (into Randolph or Brockton) and you are definitely in a lower middle class area.
Food: (N/A) did not eat here so no comment. The Caffe Bella down the street is excellent, as is the Legal Seafood in the South Shore Plaza about 3 mi away. The rest of the time we ate downtown.
I only have business in this area about once every 2 years. The last time, I stayed at the Residence Inn in Brockton. I remember it being better than this location, but that was 2 years ago. If my company would pay for it, I would have rather stayed at the full service Marriott in Quincy, but prices are high for the South...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have stayed here a handful of times the very first time we stayed here our dog had surgery and the only rooms that were available happens to be on the fourth floor and there was a room on the first floor but that was a king deluxe seeing that my dog just had surgery the manager was nice enough to show us both rooms and to see what room would be more easier for our dog, we went with the first floor and although it was a little bit more money we were just put in the room and didn't have to pay the difference they realized they had a guest that needed to be on the first floor. Then we stayed a few more times and each time we stayed we had an easy check in fast check in , the staff were very friendly very helpful, and the last time we just stayed was recently and we reserved a room at didn't have a balcony, which the balcony is pretty awesome to look at at night I didn't know that king-sized rooms then all have balconies, so I asked the front desk clerk he told me to come down and without question or hesitation my room was changed so I can have a balcony. There were a few times my boyfriend and I have something to do a few hours after check out which is at noon, so the manager told us we could have a late check out to make it easier on us because we either had an appointment or we were leaving the state, also if you book directly through their website and scroll down you will see a few different boxes and one of those boxes is early check-in and late check-out and it's pretty reasonable being $15 gives you a extra 2 hours at checkout I'm not one hundred percent sure about checking in early how many hours are able to check in early. Both me and my boyfriend have stayed at many hotels this is the only hotel that I seen offer that for checking out or checking in, Their room are very decent-sized rooms, their beds are comfortable, the sofa bed it's pretty cool, and in all the time we have stayed there which again a handful never had a dirty room never had a smelly room never had a smelly refrigerator, never wasn't very loud or loud period. It is in a great location there are multiple stores nearby there's the malls nearby there's a ton of things to do in that area or if you drive in a little bit to Boston. And depending what you're going for if you're with your significant other it might just be a little romantic if you bring along things to help the environment the way it's set up it definitely was for us. I definitely would give them in A+ . And both my boyfriend and I will be returning. So I would like to thank the staff in the manager for making us feel comfortable enough to...
Read moreThis hotel is disgusting. I have always stayed at Sonesta on my business trips. I am a platinum member at Sonesta and have always had good experience. But this hotel is absolutely not up to Sonesta standard. As many other reviews have already said, this hotel is now a sanctuary hotel hosting immigrants. My teenage daughter and I (2 females) arrived after midnight so I did not realize until the morning. But we were in a hurry in the morning so had no time to move and didn't arrive back at the hotel the 2nd day until late. We only had a 2 night stay. So we just decided to stick with it.
The interior of hotel room was ok, I was pretty scared we would bring home bed bugs or what not, but that didn't happen. The towels were thinner than normal Sonesta, the room was dirtier too, there were stains everywhere. But the beds did seem clean.
But the interior was the least of the problem compared to the fact it is now a sanctuary hotel but we were not informed. It was scary to have a crowd of people staring at us at breakfast and in the parking lot. Many of them standing around, there are so many of them and we had to walk through so many rooms to get to the elevator and lobby. And it seemed like there must have been 6 to 8 to 10 people in 1 room, many babies in 1 room crying, men talking loudly.
On the day of checkout, I went downstairs to ask for late checkout. The guy behind the desk said no, he has to charge me if I stay pass checkout time. I said I am a platinum member and always get late checkout. He said this is a franchise and does not have to follow corporate rule!
Then I started saying to him they need to tell people this is a sanctuary hotel so business travelers know not to book.
He then started telling me what they do is none of my business! Can you believe how rude this guy is? I have never met someone this rude at any hotel, this is not a motel! But it is worse than a motel!
I told him it is absolutely my business if I am going to stay there. He was extremely rude. They have no concern for cleanliness nor safety for the rest of the hotel guests. It is totally fine they want to take government money for being a sanctuary hotel but they absolutely need to inform business travelers so we can make an informed decision.
STAY AWAY. Worst Sonesta I have ever stayed at. Actually the WORST HOTEL I have ever stayed...
