I am writing this review with a mix of disbelief and anger. My recent visit to the Outback Steakhouse in Randolph was, without a single ounce of exaggeration, the worst customer service experience I have ever endured. I would give zero stars if I could.
From the moment i was seated, there was a palpable sense of being an inconvenience. But the true, jaw-dropping highlight of the evening was my server.
Let's start with the unforgivable rush. I was in the middle of cutting my steak—fork and knife in hand—when my server appeared tableside. I assumed she was coming to check if everything was okay. Instead, she slapped the bill on the table and demanded, "Whenever you're ready." I hadn't even taken three bites, and my cocktail was still half-full. She literally tried to rush me out the door while I was actively eating my dinner. I have never, ever been made to feel so unwelcome and like a burden in a restaurant. The reason for this is unclear, but the feeling of being singled out was obvious and deeply uncomfortable.
The incompetence didn't stop there. I ordered a double Patrón with a bottle of Pellegrino and a glass of ice. She brought the drink and the water bottle, but no glass. Thinking I was being helpful, I politely said, "Excuse me, I think you might have forgotten the glass of ice?"
Her response? She looked me dead in the eye, held up her two hands, and snarked, "I only have two hands," before walking away. I was absolutely stunned. Is this the level of professionalism Outback trains its staff to uphold? She returned minutes later not with a highball or rocks glass, but with a small wine glass, as if to add one final, mocking touch to the ordeal.
The entire meal was conducted under her stormy, impatient demeanor. We felt like we were a massive problem she had to deal with, not paying guests.
The most frustrating part of all of this? Despite the blatant disrespect, the rushing, the sarcasm, and the overall hostile environment, I still tipped her 30%. I don't know why I did it—perhaps a force of habit, or maybe just to take the high road. But I regret it. She earned every penny of $0.
I will NEVER be back. Not for a Bloomin' Onion, not for a drink, not for anything. Save your money and your dignity. Go to LongHorn or Texas Roadhouse, where they might actually treat you like a human being. This location is an absolute disgrace to the Outback name. And i will be...
Read moreRecent experience is when we stopped for a late dinner with our grandson. It was not very busy, as it was closer to closing, the server was attentive, food was hot and well presented, and the cost was about average for 3 adults. We spent about $90 with 3 meals, 1 appetizer, nonalcoholic drinks, and a decent tip for the server.
The restaurant is clean, as were the bathrooms, which is important and a sign of the level of care by the staff.
Have been there a few times and prefer to go there as we like the menu, and other places nearby seem to have more of the party atmosphere, and have no interest as looking for a place to enjoy a quiet family dinner out.
The staff is friendly, which is a plus for me. We usually go later in the evening, when there are fewer customers, as we are not always people friendly when dining out.
We did go there for a late lunch a while ago, and while much busier, the staff was still attentive, and the restaurant was also clean.
Did have a moment when we went to eat earlier in the day. We got seated and placed our orders, and then as we waited, both of us went to use the facilities. When we stepped away, the server delivered our appetizer. The couple next to us grabbed our appetizer off the table and ate the entire pan of shrimp and when the server came over to ask how our app was and realized the table next to us had grabbed it and eaten it despite NOT ordering an app (when we came out they were chowing down like it was their last meal and we assumed it was theirs).
The server made sure it was reordered for us and that they were charged, and we got it for free since they had taken it from our table. They tried to argue it was delivered to their table, although the server remembered putting it at our table, but if you didn't order it, why would you eat the entire pan. I had never had that happen before.
NOT the restaurants fault, but indicative of why we are not people friendly. Was handled very well by the staff and why we still go there when out that way.
The blooming onion options are really delicious. Would recommend if looking for cleanliness, expect a courteous and attentive staff,...
Read moreOnce again I had the pleasure of dining at my favorite Outback located in Randolph Ma. I was greeted by the hostess by name!!! Very nice. Makes you feel at home. I was lucky enough to have Sara R as my server. She as usual greeted me with a “ great to see you” and asked if I was interested in trying the cocktail of the week. Sara R knows I love the Ahi Tuna appetizer and with a big smile asked if I wanted my usual!!! You have no idea how that makes a customer feels when a server who serves hundreds and hundreds of people remembers what I like to start me meal. My appetizer was served in a matter of minutes and the restaurant was packed!!!!! After my appetizer had arrived and I was enjoying Sara R checked in with me to ask if I needed anything. 5 stars doesn’t do justice for that kind of attention and service. I had just finished my appetizer and Sara R was at my table ready to take my order for my meal. I placed my order for your delicious salmon and before I could finish my cocktail my meal was ready. That’s top shelve service from the kitchen staff but also for Sara R to have many many other customers to serve checked on me frequently and asked how my meal was as well if I needed anything. I can’t say enough about the service I received from Sara R. I also want to thank the chefs for the excellent peperation of my meal. So if you are in the Randolph area stop by the Outback and ask if Sara R is serving. Sit at one of her tables and be prepared to...
