One star is too much. I had a disappointing experience at Gepettos on 3/11/2025 around 3:15 PM. My family, which included several kids and adults, decided to stop by the store after lunch, and unfortunately, our visit was marred by the behavior of an employee named Edmund.
It was raining outside, and as we entered the store, one of the adults in our group was rudely told by Edmund to stop touching an item because he was "too wet." This initial interaction set a negative tone for our visit, but things only worsened from there.
One of the kids accidentally bounced a ball outside the store, and when it was brought back in, Edmund's reaction was extremely uncalled for. He was rude and insisted that we should pay for the ball, despite it being completely intact and just a little wet from the rain. Instead of understanding that accidents happen, he chose to scowl at us and make us feel uncomfortable.
My family had plans to purchase several items, but after experiencing Edmund's terrible customer service, I decided to put everything down and leave. When visiting a children’s store, one would expect a bit more patience and understanding from the staff—unfortunately, that was not the case here.
I will not be returning to Gepettos. It shouldn't be that difficult to provide decent customer service, especially in a place catering to families. Edmund’s behavior is not a good look for the store, and I hope management addresses this issue for the sake of...

I’m a professor but you can’t tell by looking at me and I know bad customer service and mistreatment at a store because I’ve worked retail and I know our inalienable rights and he kept talking about how the owner was going to back him up. Called La Jolla store and they said they would take the return.. so this was just crazy. Both of these individuals need to be fired because I know their behavior doesn’t go in line with the values of this company. The guy kept telling me things when I said they were being rude and unfriendly and I have him recorded physically coming to me trying to act like I was a criminal. Criminalizing me is against the law and discrimination .. he started yelling about the condition of the box of the toy. There was some sort of Lego event so there were legos, sealed in bags on the floor, and he touched a bag for barely a second before an employee yelled at him very loudly for touching it. My son was so frightened he jumped and let go of the bag immediately. I took him out of the store without even looking around. He’s a child in a toy store, and I held his hand the whole time. I understand the employee was just doing his job but he didn’t have to yell at a small child like that.
