Very friendly and delicious authentic healthy Indian food. I've been eating Indian food for 20 years in Encinitas, we have had some good spots come and go and some other not so great spots. After trying masala street today I was very impressed. Greeted by the friendly owner with a smile on her face I was stoked to finally find some authentic traditional food other than typical here but also with the huge kicker of having fair non exaggerating prices. To find quality and fair prices nowadays is rare. I ordered the lunch special which they have every weekday 11-3. I got one meat entree and two veg entrees for $9.99 plus tax. Which included yogurt raita, fresh warm naan, salad and heap of fresh rice with aromatic herbs. They have free fresh cool water for drinking or also amazing hot chai and also mango lassi with few other rare soft drinks Indian Mexican beers. The lamb curry was super super good. The Dahl makhani was 5 stars rice and naan were incredible. Saag paneer was also good. Very spacious, Indoor and nice outdoor patio seating. Super friendly and very tasty good food with humble prices considering everything in...
Read moreThey started good a few years ago when they first opened up. We became one of their regular customers but we noticed the quality of the food was decreasing, the place started smelling really bad, restroom is awfully dirty & they don’t even have cold tap water or ice for drinks. And the main reason I finally decided to write this review is because we found a cockroach in one of our dishes couple of weeks ago. The place looks and smells really bad that I am very surprised how they even pass the health inspection every year. It is very unusual and disappointing to see such a filthy restaurant in Encinitas.
Response to the managment regarding their response on 7/10/25: we did report it immediately, my husband took the plate to the lady at the front and she took the butter chicken off of our bill. we couldn’t finish our food and ran out of the restaurant because my 10 years old was about to vomit right there in the restaurant. Also, you do not take the cleanliness seriously, I suggest you walk into the restroom and see how well you take care of the cleanliness of...
Read moreWe’ve been habitually coming to Masala street for over 2 months now so this review is long overdue. Since our first time, we’ve refined our order to perfection: samosas, chicken tikka masala and a few varieties of naan.
To say this is the most consistent, refined Indian food in our area would be an understatement. The flavor profiles are complex, cohesive and well rounded. Only eating abroad can you find the right balance of heat and flavor, crazy that we’ve been able to find that so close to home.
But enough about the food, let’s tip our hat to the customer service. Not more than our second visit was our order memorized but confirmed would be ready right away. When we pick up the chef as we’ll as all the staff have greeted us with such welcome, just good vibes from the whole crew. If there was a model for how to operate a small, family owned and operated restaurant, this is it.
Our review reflects how thankful we are for Masala Street providing the best food and experience possible each and every time we visit. Looking forward to the next...
