I don't like to write a negative review, but I do believe in sharing experience, and for others to compare or to be done correctly for the time and money being spent. I guess the short & to the point version is that I got an appointment to have needed work done and asked for additional service for the point of safety on a planned extended trip.
I ended up returning three different times at wasted time and finding rides to get some of the original work fixed and corrected. On the positive side, I asked if they had any sort of Senior &/or Veteran discount, which was given or adjusted, kudos... Again on the negative side, I literally gave the value back to the service writer and the mechanic/technician as a gratuity for the work/service/time on my bike. It took a little time & miles for the issues to come to light, and then spent a few extra days for corrections to be addressed each time.
I am at the same odds as most everyone else, as I would like to have more work & maintenance done, but some of the issues could have been catastrophic safety issues on hot / distant / secluded area trip - and this is one of the main / only Motorsports shops in town. And where I had run into some of these issues with the previous owner(s). For a while I was ironically able to get excellent service from the KTM shop until they got a new owner/manager and appeared to be put out to work on a different brand bike. So my friend suggested that I came back and it doesn't really seem to be much, if any better. Otherwise they are generally always busy from what I can see.
Do they not have enough technician mechanics, work spaces or what? It's my understanding that they don't have a covered storage area outside the work area, so anything waiting, done, in between service sits outside in the weather.
And last but not least, I spoke to one of the Sales personnel during a phone call and one of my return visits... This guy literally treats people as a possible sale or a waste of time - tire kicker. I'm only curious what if any service after the sale would be, otherwise I would probably buy from someone, somewhere else. I'm also not sure if I was locked out of their website as I've received a 403 code attempting to access again? Why would I be locked out for receiving sub par repair work?? For the most positive, most of the people I dealt with or spoke to were understanding to have me back and get the issues corrected once again &/or in a timely manner from what...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've debated on reviewing this place for awhile now. I think people need to know what kind of sales people they are possibly going to be dealing with. My family and I went in to look at a motorcycle and helmets. When we came in, we were ignored. For a long time might I add. They asked others who came in if they needed help. When a salesmen finally asked if we were looking for anything, the person who was talking to us kept trying to push my husband on the biggest, fastest thing possible. Even though he kept saying I had a wreck 7yrs ago and I'm just starting out again. I don't need fast. My husband has a dual sport in mind. So when he got done with it, I could have it and us come get another bike for him. The sales person had the nerve to say the bike we were looking at is a "mom bike". Something to follow the kids around. It doesn't matter what kind of bike it is. A bike is a bike. This person wasn't listening and was just trying to push. Lost 3 customers in the process. We went to Harley Davidson in Reno the next week and they were more than helpful, included our son in the experience, and my husband went home with a bike. And when it's time, we will be going to Harley again to get bikes and gear for myself and our son. And their prices were more reasonable. And staff was a lot more helpful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI purchased a new 2014 Sportsman 850 xp from Michaels Cycle Works in 2015. Ben (store manager) was professional, knowledgeable, and the whole experience was very stress free. He didn't try to pressure me into getting something I didn't need, like many other companies will do. He was straight forward and made sure I was happy with my purchase before, during, and even after it was all said and done. Everytime I go in now he still asks me how everything is going.
Since purchasing the atv (and riding the hell out of it), I've had it in for regular service a couple times. Ben (in service) is a straight shooter as well. I'm a bit of a pain in the rear when it comes to this sort of thing. I ask a lot of questions because I've learned over the years that a lot of business like to hike up prices and charge you for things that you didn't need. There was no BS from Ben. He explained everything to me in detail, in a professional manner, and most importantly, he was honest.
A lot of places will drop you like a bad habit once the sale is done, but that's not the way these guys work. I've purchased many new vehicles over the last 20+ years and this has been the best experience...
