T.J. Maxx — Local services in Cedar Rapids

My Mom and I stopped by the T.J.Maxx in Cedar Rapids, IA. We have been loyal customers for years (16years +) purchasing ALL of our Christmas gifts from TJ and any and all incidentals throughout the year. TJ ‘s has been actually a family shopping event with my 2 sisters and my Mom throughout my entire life as it was located 5 minutes from our house.

During our visit to your Cedar Rapids Ia location, we came to the store to return a $5.99 item of coffee beans, (full pkg but opened) that were tainted with a chemical smell rendering it inedible. We requested a refund. The cashier called the manager due to having a policy of NO RETURNS on any food items.

Ms.Trish W. , the manager of the store, had a very indifferent attitude. When we explained the awful chemical smell of the coffee and the fact that it was inedible because of it, she offered no apology and no empathy for the matter, and just kept repeating over and over the policy of Tj Maxx. This was a $6 item!!! We spent $134 while in the store to bring back a $6 item! This item was inedible due to the chemical taste rendering the item useless to the customer! She could have even opened the item and smelled it herself and been convinced, but she wasn’t. As I said, indifferent!

I have witnessed this Manager, Trish on multiple occasions while shopping there. Often times she seems not only indifferent but most unfriendly. It seems from other reviews, others claim the same. I am conflicted on returning as this experience made my Mother and I feel terrible that day.

We have been so loyal to Tjmaxx and have many pleasant family memories during Christmas shopping there. However, her “decision” to refuse our refund was in my opinion a poor customer service decision. We don’t have to shop there, we choose too. That just...

I don't give it five stars because I don't want everyone to think this is the perfect place to shop. It is not, then again, where is? If you come looking for clothes they may not have your size that specific time. However, these guys receive new shipment every week. And if you like finding better quality things at a bargain price this is the place to look first! I've been a consistent customer here for the last 5 to 6 years and have always had a positive experience. Now I don't believe in coming and buying clothes that don't fit you just because they have a good price, God has not given us the spirit of poverty, but certainly check what they have in your size and pick from those things if you like any. Otherwise, check next week, and they also have a great selection of accessories, kitchenware, bed sheets and linens, watches, bags, interesting gourmet foods and lastly not my favorite, a selection of only women shoes. Not the best TJ Maxx store we have been in but still a great place to find some hidden gems in the store. I tend to take the pricing and discounts with a grain of salt, especially after finding a shirt that is being sold for 15 but "used to be sold for" 499. Regardless, it's a great place to find some great clothing, purses and other items. I should not even post this picture here, but maybe getting it sold out will help us to get away from being addicted to "Heavenly Caramels Milk Chocolate Marshmallow Caramel candies" and it is the only place that (as far as we have been able to find) has them, in stock !! They are awesome, and TJ Maxx has a ton of them !!! I'm sure that if they are gone, we will be able to find something else that we love but those are...
