This is a long review, but the key points are: • Poor Project management • Unclear design caused us to waste money • Disappointing design missed our wants and needs • MASSIVE delays due to CDA mistakes • We were forced to do double and triple work due to CDAs mistakes
This is our second time using CDA for our remodel. Our first experience (2019) was great, aside from a few small hiccups. Sadly, it was a completely different experience this time around. We were working on two areas of our home, the basement, and our mudroom. The whole plan was expected to take about 3 weeks. At 3 months we were still not done, Initially, our project was going well, and the contractors were working fast to get our basement updated. However, there was a problem with the cabinets for our mudroom project. They were either ordered in the incorrect color, or they were painted incorrectly. We never got a resolution to this as both the designer and the company they contracted blamed each other for the error. This mistake delayed our project for 7 weeks while we were waiting on the correct cabinets to be built. We never did get a resolution as to whose fault the error was, but no one ever even bothered to apologize for the mistake or the substantial delay to our scheduled 3-week project. While we were waiting on the new cabinets to be built the contractors could have completed the basement, however, they go it to about 90% complete and then disappeared. The amount of work they had left would have taken their crew a day or two to complete, allowing us to finish painting and move our stuff back in. Instead, they were gone for 7 weeks and ultimately, we ended up finishing much of the work ourselves. The lack of project management caused us and the subcontractors to have to do extra work, for example, the countertop for the cabinets was scheduled to be installed at the same time as the wallpaper, so the countertop crew was unable to finish their installation. After all the problems that we had with this project the countertop company refused to come back out to finish the installation, and since this was a direct result of CDAs lack of project management we couldn't blame them. The design aspect also missed the mark for us. The design for our mudroom was to be integrated with our existing cabinets. The initial drawings that we signed off on showed the new cabinets integrating well, however in reality they were not going to fit, blocking a large portion of the existing lockers that were already installed. So we ended up having an extra cabinet that we were forced to purchase even though it doesn't fit. Overall, this experience with CDA was terrible. The design missed the mark, their mistakes ended up causing us extra time and wasting our money. The general lack of communication caused us to have to do work on our end multiple times. As much as we liked CDA our first time I would NOT recommend them again. We were extremely disappointed with this whole process and the general attitude from the company that even though the errors and delays were a direct result of their work it was not...

Read moreI worked with Shuree to finish a bathroom remodel my husband and I had planned to do ourselves and then gridlocked over for four years. Shuree graciously worked with some materials we already had on-hand to finish the project, but also gave wonderful suggestions to round out the finishes and floor plan. She offered us exactly what we needed, which was to reassure us that the remodel was going to work out really well, and offering really beautiful options in response to my taste that I wouldn't have known about without her. We took the bathroom to the studs and her coordination of that rebuild was so worth it. Delays are a normal part of renovation, and we experienced some, but that in no way reflects on anyone poorly-I only mention it because realistic expectations go a long way towards satisfaction. All in all the team we worked with were consummate professionals who conducted their business accordingly, and I would strongly recommend them to anyone needing a hand...
