In the past, this was the obvious place to car shop, especially if you weren't sure what make of vehicle you wanted yet, because you could park at one end and walk along the pathway to browse the selections across all the dealers.
Some of the dealers are open until 9pm. So if I walk through a few of the lots starting before 8pm, I may not be able to see everything.
But I don't understand why any of these employees would be outright HOSTILE to someone walking through a lot of cars before 9pm. By the time I passed the GMC dealer, casually looking at window stickers, I get BLASTED by a ridiculously loud security interco, warning me that I can't be on the property and that someone will be dispatched.
Okay, RUDE, especially after barely being acknowledged by any salespeople from Ford, to Toyota, to Honda (the only one with a very polite employee that tried to help me).
Even so, okay, not only do you not want to sell, you don't want me to even browse the window stickers. Fine. I go to the other side of the street and start heading back, staying only on the sidewalk. It's almost 9 at this point, so maybe nobody is open anymore.
Now I'm walking back to my car parked at South Street. And I hear someone calling my name. I trim around and it's a young man kind of shabbily dressed with"security" attire, jacket and ball cap.
He's polite and friendly enough. But he starts asking me questions a COP would ask. "Do you live around here? Just taking a walk? Shopping?"
On a personal level, I'm prone to just answer people's questions and have a conversation. But I'm on public property and these questions are none of anyone's business after I've stepped off of their parking lots. And I don't want to be rude to him because he seems to have been dispatched by someone else since he's asking if I was in the GMC lot and whether I left the lot when the intercom warned me. It wasn't him and he was trying to reassure me that if I walked off the lot, after the announcement, everything was fine.
But that's still unacceptable. There are no gates around these dealers. There are no obvious signs at the sidewalks warning that you can only walk there during specific hours. And not all the dealers have the same hours. So it seems ridiculous that a potential customer should be interrogated, even politely interrogated just because they happen to be there near or even after closing time for some dealers.
The gentleman said something (a little bit incoherent) to the effect that I should give them a "heads up". And it took me a minute to realize how absurd that is. A heads up to who? Where? Do I just yell out "hey, I'm here, I'm not a vagrant, thief, or environmental terrorist!! I'm just checking your cars out, you know THE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF A CAR DEALERSHIP!!!"
Not a chance.
I miss the days when Cal Worthington was open until midnight and someone with a mind for customer service actually worked in customer service roles.
I will never return to Cerritos Auto Square or any of the member dealers, I promise you that. So don't worry about me getting too close to vehicles that are sitting out in the open in ungated plazas across an entire city block. I'll take my...
Read moreI recently visited Toyota of Cerritos to address a concerning issue with my Toyota Crown. My vehicle has been making abnormal noises when turning the steering wheel, whether moving forward or in reverse, as well as a popping sound after the car has been sitting for long periods when placed in reverse and the wheel is turned.
Previously, another dealership had acknowledged and duplicated the sound but dismissed it as “normal.” At Toyota of Cerritos, I was informed that they could not duplicate the popping sound. However, they did identify a noise coming from the rack-and-pinion area when turning at slow speeds. Despite this, I was again told the noise is “normal” and is inherent to all Toyota Crowns.
This explanation feels like a dismissal rather than a thorough investigation. The noise may not be excessively loud, but it is both audible (even with windows closed) and tactile through the steering wheel. I don’t believe a car valued at over $60,000 should exhibit such issues, let alone have them labeled as “normal.” It seems this dealership is relying on prior notes from other locations and avoiding deeper inspection of the problem itself.
Customer service also left much to be desired. The service representatives lacked the professionalism and expertise I expect when addressing such concerns. There was no proactive effort to reassure me or provide a premium customer experience, which is disappointing for a dealership representing a reputable brand like Toyota.
I cannot recommend Toyota of Cerritos based on this experience. If you’re seeking a dealership that takes customer safety and satisfaction seriously, you may want to look elsewhere.
I just got home and tested the car for the sounds and it makes the sound every time I reverse still, it makes no sense that they can’t duplicate it or if it’s normal. Lastly, don’t trust their advertisements on shuttle service. It’s short distance only and only one way which is ridiculous. This means they will take you home, if you live down the street but they won’t pick you up to pick up your car. It’s absurd. Stay away from Toyota...
Read moreCan be better. From A to Z. And stop screwing people on fixing their vehicles after they bought it from here. Like my transmission that they said they fix picked it up took it out and had to return it to the same day less than an hour because the transmission kept coming out of gear and they try to get the insurance company to pay for it again and they are laughed at and had to go to Ford motor company to pay for it. AC unit turn on both units front and back were not working they said nothing was wrong with them it's a big vehicle that takes time to cool down. took it back after the one went out and then after that the front one went out and then they tried to tell me I had to pay for it after I had two insurance policies from bumper to bumper had to go in and have the finance lady come out and tell him that I shouldn't be paying nothing except the deductible times for the unit. And then that's what they found a pinhole in the front compressor area. And then I just had my transmission worked on this to have a overhauled a year ago and I found out they did not replace the magnet in the transmission belly to collect the fragments but he said it still looks good even if they tried to screw me on that but wait they did have to pay multiple deductibles every time I took it in. Just like when they're supposed to check for oil burning they marked it where they filled it up but when I checked it it was way above the line that they put down that they...
