Dr. G’s BrainWorks — Local services in Champaign

This place has some pretty cool stuff!! But here’s my 1-star rating. After a very long bad day at work, i broke my kid’s toy when i got home and was trying like hell to replace it asap. So i scramble to the mall and scurry around trying to find it before they close. I walk into Dr G’s.. Me: Hi there do you (gets cut off) Cashier: This store has a mask policy, sir.” Fyi I’m not vax’d, don’t wear a mask, and don’t avoid people. Haven’t had Covid after several exposures either. Me: Ya ok do you happen to have this? (Shows pucture” Cashier: “You still have to have a mask” Me: “Even for a simple yes or no?” Cashier: “Yes!” Me: “That’s pretty pathetic.”

Out the door I went. Won’t be going back. Clearly my kind aren’t wanted amongst the customer base. Way to kick a guy when he’s...

This is the best game store in the Urbana-Champaign area. The staff are very passionate and their enthusiasm shows in their helpfulness and knowledge about the products. The employees get to help stock the store with their favorite games and puzzles so you know you're getting the best products. Dr. G's also offers a 10% discount for teachers buying games for their classrooms. The employee who helped me recommended a lot of great options for 2 player games and we purchased one of her favorites after seeing her reaction to our interest in it. I will definitely be buying my board games and puzzles from this store...

Good store, friendly staff, but the biggest issue I have is their return policy, if you paid cash for anything, you cannot return an item, their policy doesn't allow for it. They also take a 5% credit card fee for cc payments. It's a no win scenario, you take an additional 5% fee in order to be eligible for refunds or you pay cash and have no possible refund capacity. I like having a local toy/game store but the policies are just subpar and not very competitive...
