Sarku Japan — Restaurant in Champaign

I’ve came here for quite some time, food is always pretty good, but staff is somewhat lacking.

I normally get extra chicken with fried rice for myself, and chicken with noodles for my daughter. I wish they would put more than a tiny scoop of steamed veggies with your combo—my kid really loves the broccoli out of it, and I really love the cabbage. Normally the chicken and side dish portions are never a problem, sometimes I think they put a little too much lol.

I’ve never really had any issues with the guys serving the chicken, they’re normally friendly and smile at me. The cashier can be iffy, I waited one time for him to wait on me for nearly 10 minutes. Sometimes the cashiers can be rude or ignorant.

Out of all the restaurants that come & go over the years in the food court, this one has managed to stay around. I fear if the staff issue doesn’t get fixed it may go like the rest of the old...

Worst experience ordering from them. I ordered using doordash. The first time, my doordash person said that she was told someone else took the order. How can they give my order to someone else? I assumed they made a mistake and I get refund from doordash and order again. Same thing happens and a different doordash driver said Sarku gave my order to the wrong person. Within 30 minutes, they "accidentally" gave two of my orders to wrong person. Either they are lying to make money or they can't read the name on the order and give it to the dasher who asks for the name. Either way, I waited 1.5 hours for food just so I can be refunded my money. Never...

Used to love the chicken teriyaki over rice but now, half the time it's tasteless (not enough teriyaki) or there are other issues like hair in the food. The main cashier is rude, drinks behind the food line (violation of food service regulations), and is snippy with some of the guests. TBH, even when the food is good you have a chance of coming into the Food Court only for the restaurant to be randomly closed, no signage, with Google saying that they're open.

I...think I'm done. It's barely worth the ~$10 per dish when it's decent, when everything else is so mismanaged it's DEFINITELY not worth it.
