This is a review that I'm very unsure of how to judge. The hotel itself was very clean, both inside and out. Had no problems with the room itself, with the room and bathroom being clean. The bed was comfortable, no problems with wi-fi.
However, this particular hotel is popular for large groups of people. They have signs in their lobby indicating that guests who are not staying in the hotel are not to stay in the lobby. This in itself wasn't the issue, but in hindsight it was a warning of what was yet to come.
We were placed on the third floor. I was happy, knowing that we wouldn't have to hear the sound of heavy steps from above us. Stepping off the elevator, the floors were clean and quiet.
We settled into our room, ready for bed. Every room has a CubieBlue for an alarm clock. There needs to be instructions on how to use it. Our alarm went off at 6:11 am, not by our choice.
11:00 pm we had the first warning of trouble to come. Loud people were yelling in hallway and arguing, with someone on their cellphone with their speakerphone on while walking down the hallway. Honestly, you are in a hotel and you are choosing to ignore the laws of etiquette. People have paid to sleep and sleep well.
From 11:30pm to about 4:00 am, there was a constant amount of yelling, arguing, slamming of doors, and just loudness in the hallway. Anyone who was not in a deep sleep was awakened. All sleep was ruined for my husband who was unable to fall back to sleep.
For travelers who choose to stay at this hotel to get a good nights rest, reconsider your options. Perhaps pay a little more or drive further out of town so you aren't in town for some special event. Starting a new day driving only to have spent a sleepless night is not worth any savings in cost.
The next day, as we are checking out my husband mentions to the manager on duty the excessive noise on the floor. The manager mentions that he threatened to kick out the guests, but by then it was around 4:30am.
While on the road, I received my bill for our sleepless night. $177, and that included a $2.00 safe fee charge. What is a safe fee and why are we paying $2.00 for a safe fee?
Just a warning to anyone who is considering the Best Western Plus Champaign/Urbana Inn. Go elsewhere and get a good nights sleep at a place that doesn't cater to...
Read moreI am very disappointed in this stay. I've stayed at this facility before and rated it very well. My most recent visit, not so much. My first night was met with a family or families running through the halls, falling down laughing and talking loud constantly and it was well after midnight. I thought that the next night would be better. Not so much. The guest on the 3rd floor were moving furniture, seemed to be wrestling across the floor, loud booms out of nowhere. It was constant. I went to the front desk and explained the situation to the clerk and it appeared that she became very offended that I complained about the noise. She alleged that they were about to eat because they had just ordered Papa John's and that's why it sounded like they were moving furniture. It was much more than moving furniture. I explained to her that I needed to be up at 3 a.m. to drive to Chicago for my flight. She attempted to look up another room for me but only had a single King Bed. I am traveling with my 17 year old daughter and my 21 year old son. One bed will not work. She offered to call the room but told me that they may push back because quiet hours start at 10 p.m. That comment is very contradictory as I stated that the night before the family or families were allowed to make as much noise as they could and it was well after midnight until at least 3 in the morning. I asked the clerk for a business card and she gave me one with Celena Sommer's name. I am not sure if it was her name as she was not wearing a name tag. I have had THE WORST TIME in your hotel this trip and I doubt very much that I will ever stay here again!!! The response from the business is nonsense. If you have unruly children, why wouldn't you put them on the first floor. I am more than sure the young lady at the desk DID NOT contact that room because she was too busy defending their behavior. That was more that kids acting a fool up there and it was after midnight when they finally stopped. This hotel can keep their phony apologies. I will...
Read moreDrove 3 hours to stay here only to find out they canceled my reservation and I have no where to stay. Immensely disappointed by the lack of communication Update: The problem here is we found out "we left a mess" after we showed up to stay at your hotel a second time. There were no fees, no communication from my last stay that there was even a mess or problem with the condition I left the room. We wouldn't have booked another stay if we thought we trashed the room. I had booked a return stay 2 weeks in advance with the same email address, and you didn't notify me that I was listed do not rent until I showed up at your establishment for the weekend. The worst offense I can think of from our previous stay was we washed our dog before arrival so he shed more than usual. Hard flooring shouldn't have been an issue to clean up, and that's why we paid the pet fee. Other than that I left a bag of jerky in the fridge by mistake. We even bagged up and took our own trash to the dumpster so the cleaning staff wouldn't have to, and we were only in the room a couple hours total outside of sleep overnight for 2 nights. I don't know what your standards are for "a mess", but if any customer ever plans on staying a second time, or staying with a dog I wouldn't. You cannot count on communication of issues, and your reservation can just be cancelled over the littlest infraction. Thankfully the La Quinta down the street has a cheaper pet fee, room charge, and the walls aren't paper thin so we could sleep in peace unlike the constant noise and sleep interruptions at the best western. I cannot believe your management thinks it's appropriate to not communicate issues to customers, and to leave them stranded last second with no warning! I honestly have no idea how you plan on staying in business with such horrible customer service! I would have understood if you just communicated, but waiting to tell me there was an issue until I show up again is...
