College Chefs bring it!! This quality food service has been and is a great asset to our sorority at Iowa State University. The food is nutritious, delicious, and beautifully presented. The chef they provide our house is hard working, polite, respectful, and also fun. Our women love her and enjoy her food every day! She takes pleasing our women's palettes seriously and will try anything they suggest for a meal! College Chefs encourages a collaborative process for menus!
The structure of College Chefs' organization is exceptional in that they offer personal service, are respectful to the house director, want and also ensure their customers are happy and satisfied with their food service. They truly go the "extra mile"!
The professionalism of the entire organization is what really makes them a great food service. They offer support and help to chefs as they learn their new job. That support is ongoing and has been consistent over the three years we have used College Chefs. They expect much from their chefs from the uniforms they wear, to the work ethic, to the cleanliness of the kitchen, and of course, the freshness and quality of the food they prepare. At the end of each semester, there is a deep clean for which the chef is responsible, with photos sent to their supervisors, and a check-out process and sign off with the house director. I know of no other food service that does that.
The contract they prepare for each house outlines exactly for what the house is responsible as well as the responsibilities of College Chefs. This is helpful to me as a house director.
I believe the food service a Greek organization has will either add value to the members' experience or take away from that. It is the heart and soul of a strong and viable house and happy members. College Chefs is wise to know this and always commits to...
Read moreAs President of the Kansas State University - Tau Kappa Epsilon Building Association it is a pleasure to review College Chefs. After years and years of changing dining programs for the TKE Fraternity we have found our food service.
When I arrived on the scene we were using a catering service from a large restaurant group. Things always start good but after awhile it's easy to see the guys were served food from yesterday's leftovers - and often they had the same protein (brisket) 3 days in a row. Then we coop'ed with a group of fraternities and sororities for a chef - the only issue with that is we still didn't control the menu, and the food arrived around 2:00pm for dinner because it was cooked off-site. No need to go into the other programs we had and got rid of after 1 year.
When College Chefs presented their program there were a number of things I liked. 1) the chef has a background check 2) the chef is insured 3) the chef is onsite 4) the chef interacts with the students 5) the chef and students work on food choices and 6) the chef is willing to do special events.
From an executive perspective I love the people at College Chefs. They are easy to work with on the contracts and understand Fraternities. They work with me on changes to our situation and back to points 1 and 2 above - I can't do a background check or insure the chef and they just handle it.
We are entering our 3rd year with College Chefs after 5 years of changing every year. What a relief it is to work with professionals. It allows me to sleep at night knowing our students are well fed and fed right.
The recommendation I would give College Chefs would be at the highest level - oh - I don't do that very often. Coming from a service background I am somewhat critical, but I couldn't be happier with...
Read moreThis is one of the worst investments you can make for your greek organization. It may vary from chef to chef, but our chef consistently provides us with severe malnutrition, feeding us less than 500 calories per meal. Additionally I have dietary restrictions that they pretend to care about in the app, but I am rarely accommodated for. Our fraternity has catering for 9 meals per week which works out to about $11 per meal. For $11 you can go buy Chipotle every day with a lot more nutritional value and a lot less hassle. If your organization needs a chef, paying a private chef is the ultimate solution. Do not. I repeat. Do not get catering services through this organization. Edit: They responded to me to pretend they would address the problem. I’ve already been in contact with our representative and they’ve been largely unhelpful. This is a virtue signal as clear as day. Do not waste your hard earned money...
