Really excellent food. The gentleman who may be the owner (I didn't ask) recommended a couple dishes for us to try as this was my first time. I must say, he has great taste in his own cooking.
We had coffee and tea with sugar and cream; Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee, I believe they were called on the menu. Very tasty. The iced coffee was not so different than similar drinks in other restaurants, but it was better than average. The tea was a new experience for me. I had not had that blend of tea before, nor had I ever put cream in tea before. Highly recommended.
The dishes were served on platters and came with more modest plates from which to eat and a bowl of steamed white rice. The servings were generous and the quality of the dishes was great.
I had to get a tea to go just to leave a nice tip as I don't carry cash and you pay when you order. Also the tea is really good.
I really can't say enough good about this lovely...
Read moreIt's difficult to leave any stars, but the driver was fantastic and super courteous, so I must. I cannot quite explain the flavor of the crab rangoon, but it was more similar to that of canned tuna than Krab, crab, or even that cream cheese and carrot stuff some people do. Then there is the hot and sour soup. It looked like egg drop, so at first I thought it was simply a mix up. Then I tasted it. It was too thin to be egg drop, but certainly not hot and sour and it had a square of scrambled egg sitting in the middle of it with a single bamboo chute, one slice of carrot, and a sprinkle of mushrooms on top. I deeply wanted to like this place. The menu looked decent and I don't eat meat, so I tried to get creative with some classics. Sorry to say, I doubt I'll give it another try. The service was...
Read moreI started going to this restaurant in 2011 with a hope just to find okay Thai food as Urbana-Champaign are not big cities like Chicago where you can find authentic Thai food. But I was surprised how great the food was. I ordered Kana Moo Krob (Chinese broccoli with crispy pork belly) and three flavored fried fish. These dishes were so tasty that I went back there soooooo often (for some other dishes too). How often? Probably over 400 times in 6-7 years I was in Champaign.
The owners are super nice. Service was quite fast. One of my most favorite restaurants of all time.
P.S. These pictures were taken when I went back to Champaign the first time after I graduated. I went there 3 times during a 40-hour visit. Now, you know how much I...
