First, let me just state that I really, REALLY dislike leaving a negative public review of a business. Today, however, I'm making an exception.
Do let me explain.
After leaving my office (which is about a mile away from this store location), I stopped to pick up an order this afternoon at approx. 5.30pm. While it was relatively busy at Drive Up when I arrived, after entering my numbered parking spot in the app, they quickly wheeled out a cart and proceeded to pack the trunk of my car. Then I almost immediately received a notification thereafter thanking me for picking up my order. All [seemingly] good so far...
Fast forward about 35 minutes. I arrive home and open the trunk to find... someone else's order (presumably that of a family with a strong penchant for Spindrift - I won't judge - and planning to have fajitas and ice cream for dinner and desert tonight).
Ugh.
I reach for my phone and pull up the Target app to let them know they packed the wrong order in my car. Perfect. To resolve the "problem", the app quickly refunds me for the items from my order that the store didn't fulfill. Generous? Not really - but at least quick and easy. Then, I look down again at some other family's dinner in my trunk and imagine a similarly irritating situation playing out 40 minutes away. I proceed to call Target's 800 number and seek further direction.
After taking what I felt was an unnecessarily long time to explain to the associate what just happened and reading both the name and order number from the stickers on the items, the phone service associate finally proceeds to tell me I need to drive back to the store with the items. I respond by noting the Chanhassen store, while conveniently close to my office, is quite inconveniently far from my residence.
Had the individual who placed the order for the items packed into my trunk already visited the store (and possibly returned to receive a replacement order)? Nevermind. The Target rep tells me I need to bring everything back to the store.
So I hop back in the car, drive 30 minutes back north across the river to Chanhassen, park adjacent to a cart return, stack multiple cases of Spendrift and assorted other grocery items into a cart, wheel it all across the nice warm parking lot and INTO THE STORE (ironic that the Drive Up option is what you choose when you do not have the time to go into the store) and to the Returns Desk where a kind lady presently waiting for assistance waves me to go ahead with my cart of melted ice cream and sundry other items requiring refrigeration.
When the team member arrives on scene she sees glances at my cart and exclaims, "That's the order from earlier!"
Apparently I didn't beat the Spendrift family back to the Chanhassen store...
Yes, that was their order indeed... and I can only wonder who got mine. The Spendrifts themselves? Or maybe the folks who pulled into the Drive Up lane next to me as I was leaving? Let's just say whomever it was, I hope they enjoy Coca-Cola.
All told, Target Chanhassen only cost me an hour+ of my time this Friday evening - that and the petrol needed to drive a few dozen extra miles back to the store again. And then home. Again.
Tell me Target, do you feel my...
Read moreAvoid Target at Every Opportunity. I vowed in 2004 NOT to use Target unless absolutely necessary. This was due to political stances the corporation voiced at the time. Albeit, I purposed not to inconvenience myself declaring to use them if I could not find what I wanted elsewhere. I am so happy to say that, since 2004, I've spent fewer than $50 at Target. I've entered their establishment more than 20 times since 2004, but most of those times have breathed a sigh of releif upon finding they did not have what I needed. The couple times they did have what I wanted I sadly purchased and left feeling horrible with myself. One of those few times, however, I purchased an electronic adapter only to find it did not function properly. The experience of purchasing it in the first place was so disheartening that I opted to eat the $20 cost so as to not force myself into their establishment to return the defective product. I may or may not agree with their political stances but when they use their coporate power as a bully pulpit to push agenda in the faces of half their clientele, essentially telling that half that their oppinions don't matter, I'll shop elsewhere thank you very much. This makes Target one of the first to declare me deplorable and irredeemable, clutching onto my crude sense of nationalism. Target: Quit being morons and bring the...
Read moreThe Chanhassen store is difficult to navigate. The aisles are tight. Very hard to find things. It has been awhile since the remodel and it is still challenging to locate what you need. When I am shopping I run into other shoppers with the same frustrations. There is a local Facebook group where folks sound off about how much they hate the remodel. I have social anxiety, it bothers me that I have to find a worker to ask for assistance. Another thing - the plus size women's clothes are unattractive, the colors are boring. They should be the exact same as the clothes that are sold for smaller women only bigger sizes. Marlena is a great Cashier, she was at lunch when I was in today. The prices continue to go up. Shame. As someone with a disability, I find it very difficult to navigate the store after the remodel. The store is disjointed and not patterned in a way that is easy to find an item fast. I have anxiety and PTSD and get very frustrated when I'm in the store. There's no flow to the store. I know that Target Corporate made the decision, but this is not working. I'm not the only one who doesn't like...
