K & D's Discount Store — Local services in Charlotte

I debated on writing a review but felt that this could be helpful to someone who relies upon reviews in their business selections. I visited this establishment a couple of months of ago due the amazing reviews. I purchased a sectional sofa from the store because I needed something expediently and the turn around time for delivery in comparison to other furniture stores was relatively quick and the prices were reasonable. Upon entry, I felt that the owner was pleasant but did not go out of her way to provide information and assistance. The sofas are made to order and my hope was that what I would receive would be the same quality as the floor sample. When my couch actually arrived I was disappinted by the fabric quality, lack of comfort in comparison to the store sample and imperfections including exposed staples. Since I know that this is a discount store, my expectations were not that I would receive the same quality as the more expensive furniture brands, but I did expect more than what I actually received based on the reviews that I'd read. It is said that you get what you pay for, however my previous couch was purchased at Macy's and the price was comparable but the quality far exceeded what I purchased here. If price and quick hassle free delivery is your priority, I would say that this is your place but if quality and long-term use are important, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

In response to K&D: It is understandable that you would stand behind your furniture's quality, that however still does not have anything to do with the customer's experience or perception. Regarding due diligence, I did ask questions prior to my purchase, however felt responses at times to be vague. As stated, I made the decision to purchase a couch based upon the floor sample. I know that the cushions are firmer when a couch is new but the cushions on my couch were hard, that in my opinion is a quality issue. Could I have called to express my grievances?...Absolutely. Your 7 day policy regarding correcting furniture issues however, would not have resulted in a couch of a different quality or a refund. That was a risk that I took unfortunately. My review was not in attempt to speak negatively about your business. Your review ratings are high so there are satisfied customers that patronize you. Almost everyone has heard of the saying..If it sounds too good to be true..the majority of the time it is!! Well I had my antennae up when I saw the sofa sets on OfferUp by K & D. I couldn’t quite figure out who they were or even if the sellers were legitimate sellers or was this a real furniture store or what exactly?? I ended up googling them and low and behold they were a local discount store with their own website and darn good reviews. So there was only one thing to do and that was to convince my husband to go and check them out. Well I have to say from the minute we walked in the door we were not disappointed. The store might be small but everything else was “BIG”; first was Mrs. K’s greeting, her knowledge, her attentiveness and interaction with us as well as her adeptness at ensuring that we purchase the right furniture to meet our needs and price range. I have to say this was the best customer service experience that we’ve had when looking for furniture/household goods in Charlotte—hands down!

When it came down to selecting our furniture she showed us additional furniture that was also included in a catalog, different styles, availability of certain brands of furniture, quality levels, and financing package options.

Of course I couldn’t complete my review without mentioning the other half-- Mr. “D”, I know I’m reviewing the furniture but I just have to say that K & D are such a wonderful couple that work so well together as a married team. They complement each other and they know their business of furniture and how to match each customer with the furniture that suits their needs and style. I know I have written a mini novel already but I had so many good things to say that I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how they will work with you on price especially if you buy several pieces and also how accommodating they are on delivery dates and times and ensuring that everything arrives on time and intact.

Look no further for entry-level furniture to mid or higher-end furniture--they have it all. As they say “Don’t settle on quality for price. Have both.”

We had the most awesome experience shopping at K & D's Discount Store 3 weeks ago! We had 45 mins of free time before having to pick up our daughter from dance class. My wife and I had been discussing getting a new dining room table for over a year but hadn't taken the time to shop around. The few we saw in the sales papers didn't impress us. We were debating what to do with the free time. I put in a Google search for furniture stores in the area and this one popped up only 5 mins away. Upon walking in we were greeted with a smile and handshake by Pablo. He asked if we were looking for anything in particular. We told him what we had in mind and he showed us what he had. Pablo knew the basics and the questions he couldn't answer he immediately said, "Let me ask my boss" . I loved that about him. Dennis came over and elaborated on the different sets we had questions about. He told us how he shopped hi and low, in and out of the country to find unique pieces of furniture and a variety of other items. We told him we were veterans and he informed us that his dad too served in the military. Even though this was our first stop to look at furniture Dennis and Pablo made it our last stop and it all took place within 30 mins of closing. No rushing us, no pushing up sales, just good old fashioned customer service at its finest! Dennis provided us a military discount on an already sale item. The delivery was within 2 days of purchase and they arrived at the scheduled time that they told me. Stephen and Pablo put my set together in a short amount of time and cleaned up behind themselves. We are totally satisfied with the service and our new dining room set. It's easy to clean and I don't have to use coasters because no stains are left on the table from our drink glasses. The table has the capability to go from 92 inches in length to 72 in by folding down the center leaf and It's quite easy to do. We are ready for the holidays!
