I have just returned from your store after nearly 3 hours of wasted time and nothing but aggravation. I am in the market for a bedroom set, a new couch, a dining set and a mattress,.The salesman I had was fine. First on the list was a bedroom set. He showed me the products and eventually we found a 'Clearance Item'. It was a King size frame with a chest, 2 night tables and a mirror which I did not need. The listing price was for $850. After some discussion about what was included, he then proceeded to get the Manager and this is where the world fell apart. But let me rewind:
They had dropped the price from $850 to $700 because apparently I had to take the mirror - even though I didn't want it and the second night-table was not one of the items included in the price even though it was part of the set. The Manager tells me that I have to take the mirror because he can't sell it and the night-table stays which he figures he can sell. As if any of this should be my concern. I agree to take the mirror off of his hands (I told him it would just wind up gathering dust in a closet) but he has to include the second night-stand table, because it's part of the set. I needed that second table. So he offers to sell it to me for an additional $100.00 So the $700 deal that he offered is back up to $800.00. I tell him that I've been in sales for over 30 years and I would NEVER try and pull a stunt like this on a customer. In fact, if I did, I'd be fired. He then starts telling me about profit margins and the like - again as if this is my concern. All I want is the bed frame, the two night-tables and the chest for the $700 he and the other salesman agreed too, because I was willing to take an unwanted mirror. But he wouldn't budge on the other nightstand he said he could sell to someone else. So, he wants to stick me with something he can't move and keep what he can, making my set incomplete. Then he wants to charge $100 for daring to want the set. When the numbers were all added up, it came to $954 and change. I was so fed up that I said, let's call it $900 even and call it a day and I would take the order. The salesman (who disappeared through this whole discussion) reappears and then asked me for my phone number and when I asked "why?" he said something but coming up with the final numbers. I wasn't giving my number until I had the final number and I waited....and waited....and waited....for about 20 minutes for anyone to come back and talk to me. I started looking for the Manager. Eventually, I found him. He was talking to another Sales Representative who had nothing to do with my situation. I walked up right in their direction as they were in an aisle near the front of the store where it'd be impossible to miss me, didn't say a word, walked by them and then out the door. So at the end of this ridiculous experience, I walked out of there with nothing and actually hung out in the parking lot waiting for someone to come out to talk and change course. To at least try and save the deal. I wanted the set. No one ever came. I honestly couldn't believe it. And this was a Manager.
I have three rooms that need to be filled and they will be. But not at Value City. It was a wasted night, a brutal experience and on your end the loss of an eventual total of a few thousand dollars worth of business. So congratulations. For an individual night-table and $50.00, you lost three rooms...
Read moreCustomer service here is unacceptable and I will never shop here again. I purchased my sons first new sofa from the store. We paid someone to come and pick it up my son was also with them they get to his apartment and the sofa is damaged not in one place several places. My son calls the store and they ask him to email the pictures and told him to bring the furniture back to the store. Now we had already paid someone to Deliver it to my sons apartment and since the furniture was damaged clearly not from it being delivered to my sons apartment. When you open the box it was damaged on several sides and also when you try to put it together it would not even fit into the holes they were supposed to be assembled to hold it together. My issue today is why should we pay for someone to re-deliver the furniture back to the store if we are going to purchase furniture from the store again and not get a refund. We went to the manager at the store and she refused to pick the furniture up with out charging us a delivery fee for the new furniture that we would or purchased and they could take the old furniture with them. What kind customer service is this when you leave money on the table missing a sale over a delivery fee. Not only did they miss a sale and sale us damage furniture they wanted to charge us for delivery. WOW I have bought several pieces from the store and I am so ashamed and embarrassed that I told my son to come and get furniture from this place. So not only did they lose a sale they lost a customer for $139 delivery charge and I was going to purchase new furniture never again Value City should be ashamed of themselves for not treating customers who received damaged furniture better. The manager would not waive the fee and did not care about they sold us damage goods. We were offered a refund when we return the furniture she also stated that they could of charged us a restocking fee so when we chose to have it picked up we waved our right for it to be picked up without being charged what a joke. Oh yea I have paid for the furniture and had to return damaged and transported Furniture dealing with this store. Like I said...
Read moreI discourage EVERYONE and ANYONE from shopping at this store. DO NOT SHOP HERE. Today I had the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Today, not only was I insulted by the store manager, Chris, but I received NO resolution to my problem. To the point that I had to contact corporate and STILL didn't get a resolution.
Last week, I purchased a dining room set. The salesman pressured the warranty on my family and I, but we turned it down. They then told us it would cost $130 to deliver. My family and I decided it would be cheaper to rent a van from U-Haul. The salesperson told us the base would come assembled, and all we would have to do is place the glass on top. It DID NOT come assembled. But, we let it go and and when we brought it home the table was IMPOSSIBLE to put together. My boyfriend, mother, father and neighbor attempted to put the table together, but it was hopeless.
Today, I called the store manager to ask if they could send someone to assemble the table because we just couldn't do it. Or see if there was possibly a way to return the table and maybe get a new one. He absolutely refused. He HONESTLY said "It's not MY problem." He said "What might be difficult for you is not difficult for other people, so pay the $130 and we will come do it for you." I have never been so disrespected by a store manager in my life. When I told him I didn't appreciate his tone he continued to talk over me, and when I told him "I'm sorry, but you're being extremely rude." He said "HOW AM I BEING RUDE?! TELL ME!".
Mine you I called in a very calm and collected way. I finally decided to get the corporate number and they attempted to help us, but apparently Chris the store manager refused to send someone out. I'm guessing this is a franchise, so that is why he got final say. Now we have to pay for ANOTHER U-Haul to return the table and all corporate was able to do was give us a $75 gift card.
I am DISGUSTED by this customer service. Go to iKea, go to Rooms-To-Go. DO NOT SHOP HERE. Unless you like to be spoken to like an animal. The cheap cost was not worth the disgusting way me and my family...
