To start I have been to this location 2 or 3 times to look around. Everything they have is beautiful. I have seen many things I have wanted for my home. Yesterday I went in to look one more time at some barstools I had seen a week earlier. I was met with a warm smile from Angie who greeted me when I came into the show room. I showed her what I had come to look at and she immediately offered to get a measuring tape so I would have an idea of the dimensions. She had me take some photos while she did this and I told her I thought I would be back that evening to purchase them; however rush-hour traffic prevented this. So today I went back in and met Beth who smiled and welcomed me into the store. They had several of the same style I wanted and Beth helped me select 2 of them even pulling down a few for us to look at. Before we went to check out I mentioned I was also looking for something to use as a Tennis Shoe rack. (And I will just go ahead and say, A Fancy Tennis Shoe Rack). She walked me right to it! BOOM! I was sold. As I was checking out I met Sandra who was a delight. I made 2 trips home which worked out, as Beth could take her time wrapping the glass shelves up so that they would not be damaged on the second trip home. She was Meticulous! Then I met Adam who assisted myself and Beth getting things into my car. Read moreI live in Pennsylvania and when I come to Charlotte, I always visit the Frontgate outlet store because they have great merchandise and even greater prices. Today I went in to purchase some items and after checking out, I was excited to see that I had spent less than I had planned to. In my excitement, I told the store associate that I was going back to get additional items. As I was getting the additional items, another store associate came over to me and asked me if I had checked out already and I said yes I did but I decided to buy more items he then looked in my cart and then looked in my bag (with what I thought was a look of, well let me not judge just yet) and said well I guess you can do a second check out (duh, why wouldn’t I, I did pick up other items) anyway I said yes I will. As I continued to shop I could see him watching me at that point I just went to the counter to check out with the additional items I decided to buy . I begin to speculate that maybe he was singling me out because I am African-American and because I am Muslim. Of course I do not know if this is why he was singling me out, but it felt very deliberate and it was disrespectful at best. I will continue to shop at Frontgate as I am hoping that somehow I was wrong and that his intention was just to help me which is what I was told when I called the store to complain. At times your made to feel you are interrupting a meeting behind the counter with 4 sales people. They give you a look like “how dare you interrupt us” and other times they are quite courteous. My last visit with my husband was traumatizing. We wanted to buy several real rugs but we were not supposed to open the plastic to see the colors. Glad we did anyway because what looked gray/blue online was green. Then trying to use my 2 rewards of $375 from previous purchases (thousands I have spent with Frontgate) became an issue. Lots of rules to these rewards. Which is fine but we were trying to understand those rules and had 3 different opinions from the staff on them. Anyway long story but in the end one of the customer service girls got very aggressive and rude. It was combative and my husband was shocked. I told him I’ve had some seriously bad experiences here and he finally got to see it in action. It’s a shame because I love to shop there.
