After being diagnosed six months after falling into a ditch and undergoing painful tests and unsuccessful treatment, I felt so hopeless with the severe pain that I suffered until I walked through the doors of Chesapeake Wellness Center. On the front door there is a sign that says, "Pain is Not a Lifestyle", and the entire staff who work together has made that statement a reality for me. In order for me to give you a clear understanding of why this has become my reality is to hear about everyone in the practice. Please take a moment and read it in its entirety!

Dr. Mark is not a cookie cutter Chiropractor, instead he utilizes his multiple years of education, decades of experience and most of all his gut instincts during adjustments. He reads my body and knows exactly how to adjust it based on my progress, as well as decreasing the amount of appointments needed. I am now down to once per week after only a little over two months of treatment.

Having one of only three SMRT Massage Therapists in all of Hampton Roads, Valerie is extremely gifted in her ability to move my muscles, as well as educating me on exactly what she is doing. The only way to describe what she does is move stuff in my body which is giving me my life back.

Angel, the other Message Therapist is amazing as well. She has her own specialties and abilities that make my back feel like a million dollars when I leave an appointment with her.

Michelle, who did my ultrasound therapy, along with educated me, as well as instructed me on exercises to strengthen my core is very knowledgeable and shows how passionate she is about what she does.

Kathleen the office Manager always has a smile on her face as I walk through the door and is very friendly, as well as patient while working with me scheduling appointments.

Casey the other office staff has been extremely friendly the couple of times I met her. She is not usually there during my scheduled appointments.

The Chesapeake Wellness Center was recommended by a friend when I found myself in so much neck and shoulder pain I could not function. Physician offices were closed and I needed immediate help and someone who would take my pain seriously. The best my primary doctor could do was write prescriptions for high doses of narcotic pain medications and then make an appointment with an orthopedist when they re-opened. This was not the route I wanted to take. Therefore, I set up an assessment appointment with Chesapeake Wellness Center. After x-rays Dr. Mark designed a plan of care which I followed and am still following religiously.

As a nurse I appreciate that Dr. Mark's practice is based on the caring philosophy that enhances not only your physical health, but your mental attitude. Intense pain causes a crabby outlook and truly effects your quality of life. In addition, the physical environment of his practice is spotlessly clean and consistently sanitized. They take all the necessary precautions for customer safety related to the virus plaguing today's world.

His massage therapist is a "wonder" worker and was included in my plan of care. I am still following my plan and am pain free! An interesting side effect is that my fibromyalgia, diagnosed in the early 80's, does not bother me anymore. Was this because of a bad diagnosis while my true problem was in my cervical spine? One never knows, but the constant low grade pain is gone as well as the intense pain that so seriously affected my life.

i made an appointment 2 weeks in advance. i texted the employee my medicare card and my medicare supplement card so she could verify my coverage. i very, very excitedly looked forward to my appointment since pain in my back had increased to a horrible level. i arrived early and filled out a very detailed health questionnaire about my pain. AFTER all this, the office clerk. Jo, explained Medicare does not cover the x-rays. i didn’t know that. She told me his initial example would run $149 to $250 that i would need to pay first. i told her i didn’t have that much extra at the time but could pay $50 and then pay monthly. She went back and talked to the doctor. He said he wouldn’t start till everything was paid upfront. I would need to come back when I could pay the whole fee upfront. I left and realized that had never happened to me. I have excellent credit and always pay my bills although it may have to be monthly. i realized that thank God, i’d never been to an emergency room that told me they wouldn’t see me unless i could pay my bill upfront. since i had indicated on my intake form that the pain I was experiencing was very bad and didn’t allow me to sleep, it did make me wonder about this doctors priorities. after all, he will be getting paid from Medicare for my treatment and I was willing to pay monthly for the x-rays. I left in the pouring rain very disappointed.
