I am a first time homeowner and completely new to the renovation world. I found Gemini Design through my church bulletin and decided to give them a call. I could tell Carla would be a great person to help me with this job from our first conversation. She was totally honest with me during our phone call about my budget and expectations. I was still unsure but decided to meet with Carla in person to get a true estimate of what could be done in my kitchen for my budget.

Carla came to my house and took my limited knowledge into consideration with her designs. I showed her pictures of what I liked and she came back with a great visualization that showed me what my kitchen could look like. Then we looked at materials samples together and she kept my budget in mind the entire time. After picking materials and getting an initial estimate from the contractor, Carla provided me a very comprehensive estimate of what the project would cost. This made me comfortable enough to move forward. She set me up w/ one of her trusted contractors and the rest was history!

The entire project went so smooth and the few roadsbumps we encountered Carla and her team brainstormed quick solutions that would give me the kitchen I wanted while keeping costs down. Carla frequently checked in on the progress and reminded me of the next steps coming up.

Overall, Carla completely took the stress out of this kitchen renovation. From the design elements, material selection, finding a contractor, placing orders & following up on everything she handled it all. Anytime I had a question or an issue I just had to call Carla and she would get on it right away. I would highly recommend her and her contractor to anyone looking to do a home project!

One last note- in terms of cost. My initial impression before starting this project was that working w/ a designer would be way more than I could afford. After getting Carla's estimate I met w/ Home Depot to try and get a "bare bones" cost comparison. The prices Home Depot quoted me were almost exactly the same as Carla's for lesser quality products and all of the planning burden on my shoulders. I just finished working with Carla Gaeta of Gemini Design Group on the remodel of my kitchen, which involved taking down a wall and expanding the prior kitchen into what used to be the dining room. I decided to work with Carla on the strong recommendation of our next door neighbors, whose main floor she redesigned including their kitchen. When I looked her up, I was impressed with her extensive experience. Carla was wonderful to work with. She was patient with my many questions about the process, as this was the first time we had undertaken this size of project. She was always responsive, which I appreciate because responsiveness is king in my job! She produced three different options of kitchen layout on her design software, to allow us to visualize which layout worked best for us. This visualization was critical for me because I have a hard time imagining the space. The third design was the one, incorporating most of my feedback from the first two designs. We now have so much room in our new expanded kitchen, and her input on the selection and arrangement of cabinets has brought much improved organization and accessibility to our utensils, cookware and other kitchen stuff. The cabinets that I ordered through her (Shiloh) were very well constructed and every piece arrived on delivery day (I couldn't believe it). I had a pretty clear idea of the overall aesthetic/colors that I wanted and Carla did an amazing job of bringing that to life. Where I was unsure of a design/color choice, she gave me her honest opinion. Every time I trusted her advice, I ultimately saw when the kitchen came together why it was the right one. Carla spent significant time with us listening carefully, evaluating our space, answering questions, and offering suggestions. The planning process was thorough and all estimates were on point.

Carla brings 30 years’ experience in design and construction to the process. She worked to make us happy, but stood her ground when what we asked was not a good idea.

From planning through execution, her communication was superb. Questions were answered quickly. We always knew what to expect and when subcontractors would be at our job.

Her subcontractors did excellent work and were a pleasure to have in our home. Carla personally checked on each day’s work, ensuring that all aspects were up to her very high standard.

As with any construction project, not everything went perfectly. Carla stepped in as our advocate with suppliers, always exhibiting grace under pressure to ensure delays were minimized. Her mantra is, “There is always a solution!”

Then there is the “above and beyond” aspect of working with Gemini Design Group.

Carla noticed the step from the kitchen into the garage was too high thus a bit dangerous. It had always been that way so over 20 years we had become used to it. Being comfortable with picking up tools to make things right, Carla designed and built a proper step into our garage.
