If I could give ZERO stars I would.
Honestly, maybe the only one who deserves this star is Mel because she was so helpful and kind the first time I went to this location.
HOWEVER, this is about my most recent experience.
My initial purchase was at the Aritzia store at the Rosemont outlets. I had such a good experience despite my reason for shopping. My youngest brother passed away on March 29th at the age of 25. His favorite outfit to wear was all white. I had purchased a dress online with express shipping but was not getting any updates. So in my desperation, I went to the store to buy backup items.
Chermaine, was such a great help. She was kind and patient and very helpful. She offered her condolences and immediately went to work finding me options to wear. She even helped my friend who was with me at the same time. Amazing experience, 10/10. (I will be making a review for their location shortly.)
One of the items I purchased was a body suit, which personally; I hate them. However, due to the circumstances, I did not have too many options. I was not told at the time of purchase about the policy but with all the things happening in that moment I understand why.
Yesterday, I went into this store on Rush St. in downtown Chicago to return the item that did not work for me. My dress did end up coming in; just in time for the funeral services. I did keep the other tops, one I wore for the second day of services.
Upon entering the store no one offered to assist me, which i am used to as a plus sized woman. While shopping near the registers. One of the cashiers, Anais, asked me if I needed assistance after eagle eyeing me for a couple minutes. I brought the item to the register and explained why I was returning, even told her about the death in the family. She offered no condolences and completely shut down my request for a return. I even offered to take store credit, as I have grown to really love the other items I purchased. She kept repeating over and over again that it is a hygiene issue and I needed to call concierge. I was a bit overwhelmed and she just kept saying the same thing over again and I just walked away.
I stepped outside to cry and gather myself and called concierge. They were exceptionally helpful and immediately offered condolences and stayed on the phone with me while they sent their email.
This is the part that grind my gears the most.
As I was waiting in line again to return, ANAIS saw me and started whispering to the cashiers referring to me. It was extremely uncomfortable and dehumanizing. I will absolutely be making another complaint. Anais needs training in customer relations because her attitude was garbage.
The vibe at this location is: MEAN GIRL. If you don' fit their clean girl aesthetic be prepared to be treated like...

How you’re treated here is going to vary wildly based on how you look. The first time I came here, I’d just come from work, so I was dressed in nicer business casual clothes and a full face of makeup. Within seconds of picking up my 2nd top, someone was already asking to get a dressing room started for me. When I was trying on clothes, staff were very friendly and offering to get different sizes/styles based on my needs. Overall a pretty great experience.
The second time however, was a different story. I was working from home and had some free time between meetings, so I decided I’d stop by. No makeup, old jeans and a fashionable top. COMPLETELY different experience. I got to the dressing room line with 5-6 items, and not only was I not offered to start a dressing room, the people in front AND behind me were (with much fewer items I should add). I was completely ignored, quite noticeably by a blonde lady in a pink sweater vest after we made eye contact several times. When I got in, I was all but invisible until I started to look like I was actually going to buy some things. Went to checkout with the staff full of smiles and compliments, but not before being reminded by 3 different people that bodysuits are final sale (Note, I was not reminded once the first time I went).
A part of me gets it, this store pays it’s associates based on commission. You’re gonna wanna be friendlier to the people who look like they’re gonna buy. But that also leads to pretty discriminatory behavior. I left feeling quite embarrassed, as I feel like the snub was noticed by those around me as well, and ended up returning the things I bought that weren’t final sale. I feel like now is also an important time to mention being a dark-skinned women, which I think may have played a part in the whole ordeal. Saw many white blonde girls in literal sweatpants and sweatshirts being treated much differently than me…
All this to say: Aritzia is a store that caters to a certain shopper. If you’re not it, there’s a good chance you’ll get ignored. I adore shopping, truly, and this store has some great pieces. But I can’t enter a store not knowing whether I’m going to feel better or worse about myself based solely on the staff’s...
Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment with the service I recently experienced at the store located on Rush Street in Chicago. My visit, which took place on 12/3/2023 in the early afternoon between 1:30-2:30pm CST, left me with a significantly negative impression of the Aritzia brand.
Upon entering the store, I was excited to browse and try on a few clothing items. However, my experience quickly turned frustrating due to the lack of attention and assistance from the staff. My fitting room was left unattended for an extended period, and when I sought help in selecting a different color of a dress I was interested in, the staff failed to provide timely assistance.
I located the staff member responsible and requested assistance, only to be informed that she had delegated the task to someone else. Despite the simplicity of my request – to fetch a different color of the dress I was trying – the staff seemed disinterested and unresponsive. Subsequently, I inquired about the availability of another dress in the store, but despite assurances that the staff would check and bring options for me, I waited for an excessive 20 minutes without any follow-up.
What compounded my disappointment was observing the seemingly preferential treatment given to other customers who were attended to promptly. It became evident that my concerns were not given the same level of attention, and the service quality appeared to be influenced by arbitrary judgments rather than a commitment to providing equal and satisfactory assistance to all customers.
This experience has left me dissatisfied and frustrated, as the service I received fell far below acceptable standards. I value Aritzia as a brand, but such unprofessionalism and apparent discrimination in service are unacceptable. As a loyal customer, I believe it is essential to bring this matter to your attention and seek a...
